h. At the last Commission meeting, approval was given to the <br />South Bend Lathe, Parcel 6, Sample Street Project, R -7, to swap <br />certain land with Huckins Tool and Die Co. A formal request from <br />the South Bend Lathe has been received which asks permission to <br />use the su ject land for off street parking. Commission approval <br />was given or this request since the proposal meets all project <br />standards nd is not in violation of the Urban Renewal Plan, upon <br />the motion by Mr. Chenney, seconded by Rev. Kirk. <br />i. Th staff received Commission approval, subject to legal <br />counsel re iew, to submit a letter of intent to U. S. Post Office <br />officials hich confirms the Post Office intention of purchasing <br />from the S uth Bend Redevelopment Department Blocks 23, 24 and <br />one -half o 25 in the Central Downtown Project, R -66, upon the <br />motion by r'. Helmen, seconded by Rev. Kirk. The Post Office or <br />their assi ns must pay the average of the three appraisals for <br />the parcel however land sold to a public agency does not have to <br />be submitt d for bid. <br />6. PROGRESS REPORTS <br />a. Irecn-t le Park, R -57. The site improvement contract documents <br />are undeiew in t e C icago HUD office. Approval of these <br />document expected shortly. Mrs. Curtis expressed appreciation <br />for the relocation staff activities involving the location <br />of homes tered throughout the community that are available and <br />may be ued through the services of the Public Housing Authority. <br />Mr. Scotaff Relocation Director, was commended for his efforts. <br />b. Cha in Street Project R -29. Bid opening for the site <br />improvement or t is project wi be July 21, 1967. This is the <br />second time that bids have been taken, as the first was unsuccessful <br />because of only one bidder. Advertising for this bid opening has <br />been thorou h with at least 30 contractors through Indiana and <br />adjoining S ates having been directly notified by the Redevelopment <br />Office. <br />SOUTH BEND LATHE, <br />PARCEL 6, SAMPLE <br />ST. It was noted that recent Redevelopment REGULAR MEETING <br />Commission nietings have not been opened at the announced time due TIME <br />to the leng h of the Executive Sessions. Greater effort will be made <br />to begin promptly. <br />The next regular meeting of the Redevelopment Commission will be at <br />10:30 A.
