4.5 <br />E <br />Wednesday day-, 29t h . _1912. <br />Board met in regular session at 10:00 A. M. All members present. <br />/-"-I,n the matter of Vacation of First alley North of Liston Street under Vacation Resolution <br />No. 17. the same was deferred until June the 4th. 1912 at 10:00 A.M. <br />PPlat of the Jefferson Heights Addition .presented to the Board and referred by them to <br />the City Civil EngineeR for investiagtion. <br />Plat of a part o-f the second addition of Riverdale to the City of South Bend, Indiana <br />presented to the Board and referred to the City Civil Engineer for investigaaition. <br />t.,Remonst rance received and read by the Board remonstrating against the pavement on the <br />first alley North of West LaSalle Avenue, west from North Lafayette Street to the 1st. <br />North and South alley. The ;same placed on file. <br />Petition received read asking for Grade, Curb and walk on Lincoln Street from Michigan <br />Avenue to Augustine Street. The same referred to the City Civil Engineer for investi- <br />gat ion. <br />,,Contractors bond of One Thousand ($1000.00)Dollars given by George Headley and the <br />American Surety Company of New York was approved by the Board. <br />Partial estimate allowed Hoban & Roach on the Wayne Street Overflow Sewei-°under <br />Improvement -Resolution No. 104 to the amount of ............................. 209.74 <br />✓Communication received from the Federal Union Surety Company asking to be released <br />from the Headley Brothers Contractors Bonds. The same• referred to the City Attorney. <br />Bond and contract signed by C. H. Defrees and approved by, the Board for Brick Pavement <br />on the 1st. alley south of Monroe Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 118. <br />Bond and Contract signed by C.H61- De Frees and approved by. the Board for the Brick Pave- <br />ment on the 1st. alley South of L.S. & M. S. Ry, Under Improvement Resolution No. 124. <br />s�Bond and contract signed by Hugh Anderson and approved by the Board for Grade Curb and <br />Walk on Corby Street under improvement Resolution No. •141. <br />fond and contract signed by Hugh Anderson and approved by the Board for Grade, curb and <br />walk on Niles Avenue, -from •Hfiward St retst' toc St ..V ncent Street on east side only,under <br />Tmprovement .Resolution No. 139 in the City of South Bend, Indiaana. Modified by resoluti <br />of the Board of Public Works to read east side of street only, May 21st. 1912. <br />Plans- and Specifieations for Indi*&na & Michigan Electric Compaanyts <br />Underground Conduit. <br />/` • I ndi aana and Mi chi gaan Electric Company respectfully submits to your hon- <br />orable body the following statement, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 1044, and <br />shows that it is now ready and desired to begin the further installation of unaierground <br />conduits for the transmission of electric current through d po.rtion of the streets, <br />alleys and public places of said. City, as is provided for in said Ordinance ..No. 1044 <br />and orciinarce supplement o+7_ and amendatory thereto ,towit :- <br />On South Street from Mi chi gan Street to T ayloR Street : on Jefferson Blvd. <br />from Lafayette Street to Taylor St reet , and on Wayne Street from Michigan Street to <br />Carroll Street, as is shown on the accompanying map whihh is herewith presented and <br />made a part hereof. <br />The conduits proposed to be laid are constructed of vitrified clay and <br />fibre and will be encased in not less than 2" of concrete. The distance from the top <br />of said ducats to the- .surface of the street: will not be less than 21. The size of <br />the duct to be not less tnaan 2-1/2" in diameter nor more than 3-1/2" in diameter. In <br />each trench there will be laid from one to twelve ducts. The location of the duets <br />and their connection with each other and with other ducts, except as to laterals lead- <br />ing to the premises of the .customers, will be approximately as shown on the map herewith <br />submitted and made a part hereof. The method of construction of said ducts is shown <br />on. drawings attached hereto, numbered 15, 161,17, and 19, which -show the method of lay- <br />ing one to twelve ducts. Plans 10 and 11 show the general construction of manholes <br />and service boxes. Said maps and drawings show the design and intended location of <br />said ducts, "except service laterals, and such location is approximate only because of <br />the practical impossibilittv!of knowing in advance the existence of obstructions or <br />
