5. COMMUNICATIONS <br />Communication was received from Chas. W. Cole & Son regarding final inspection <br />and payment to contractor covering Site Improvement Contracts "D" & "E". It <br />was the contractor's recommendation that since the construction of this <br />projec to date has been satisfa.dorily completed, final payment be made to <br />them, subject to a retainage of one per cent (1 %) of the total construction <br />cost of the project for work completed by the Contractor, until final or other <br />documents which may be required by the Contractor are transmitted to the Rede- <br />velopment Department and a.written notice of final acceptance is made by the <br />Redevelopment Department, at which time the final retainage of 1% shall become <br />due. No action was taken by the Commission. <br />6. RESOLUTION NO. 96 - CONTRACT FOR PLANNING ADVANCE - IM IANA R -56 <br />Resolution approving and providing for the execution of the contract for <br />planning advance for surveys and plans for urban renewal project under Title <br />I of the Housing Act of 1949, as amended, numbered Contract No. Indiana <br />R -56(A ), by and between the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment <br />and the United States of America was unanimously adopted by the Commission, <br />on motion by Mr. Helmen and seconded by Mr. Kompar. Resolution is attached <br />and he eby made a part of these minutes. <br />7. NEW BUS <br />Demoli ion and site clearance bids for the Chapin Street Indiana R -29 Project <br />Area a e being received and bid opening will be held 10 :30 a.m., January 14, <br />1965, t the Redevelopment Department office. <br />The Co fission unanimously approved, on motion by Mr. Helmen, seconded by <br />Mr. Ko par, the attendance of Mr. Nowak and Mr. Chong at the Indiana Urban <br />Renewal Meeting to be held in Indianapolis January 15, 1965. <br />8. PROGRESS REPORT <br />Mr. Nowak reported 106 properties have been purchased in the PROGRESS <br />Chapin ;Street Project Area to date. Six options are signed to REPORT <br />be closed, six in condemnation at the present time, and three IND. R -29 <br />are "in doubt ". <br />Mr. Scott reported a remaining workload of twelve families, RELOCATION <br />fourteen businesses to be relocated at the present time in REPORT <br />the Chapin Street Indiana R -29 Project Area. He indicated IND. R -29 <br />these are hardcore cases; also that most of the businesses <br />want to relocate in the same general area. <br />Next m eting will be a special meeting to be held January 14, NEXT <br />1965, t 10 :30 A.M.
