The bidders ranked as follows: The Base Bid for this project specified Sikaplan roofing material, or approved equal. The addendum added another option: Carlisle Sure -Flex KEE HP roofing material, or approved equal. This was added to provide the City with another option for potential cost savings, but it was not considered equal to the Base Bid. Bidders were not required to bid on both the Base Bid and the Alternate. Joe Dzierla reviewed the bids and recommended awarding the Base Bid to Midland Engineering. The Sika Corporation has a track record of proven performance of over 50 years. The Carlisle System is a newer product and does not have a track record of proven performance. There is no equal to the longevity and performance of the Sikaplan Systems, and these systems come with a 15 year warranty, which adds long-term cost savings. Joe Dzierla provided a recommendation letter, which is attached. Engineering recommends award of a contract for 226 00.00 to Midland Engineering, contingent on approval of additional funding to be requested by the Redevelopment Commission on September 26, 2019.
