VII. SS REPORT Mr. Baer stated that he had discussed with Mr, Said Haddad, INTERSTATE President of the Interstate Demolition Company,,via long DEMOLITION distance telephone, that the City work out its problems CORP. with the company. Mr. Baer suggested that.he be authori- zed to meet with Mr. Haddad in Arlington, Virginia to see if the dispute between the City and the contractor could be settled. Mr. Baer was authorized to travel to Virginia for this meeting at the expense of the Department of Redevelopment. On motion made by Mr. Helmen, seconded by Mr. Koczan and RELOCATION unanimously carried, the Commission approved the Contract OFFICE for Professional Services which is to be presented by CONTRACT Mr. Brown to the Board members of the South Bend Urban League &. Hering House, Inc. at their next meeting. On motion made by Mr. Helmen, seconded by Mr. Place and H -6144 unanimously carried, the Commission approved the sub- IND. R-•29 mitta of H -6144 Request for Concurrence in Acquisition Price s on Parcels 1 -2, 2 -6, 6 -11 and.6 -14 on the Chapin Stree Project Area Indiana R-29. The commission-authorized the write-off of $684.14 for ' f BACK --NTAL back-rental owed by Richard Alexander to the Redevelop- WRITE -OFF ment Department', on motion made by Mr. Place, seconded PARCEL by Mr. Koczan and unanimously carried. In view of the 12 -32 opinion submitted by Mr. Jesse L. Dickinson, Executive IND. R -7 Director of the Housing Authority, the Commission believed that ttempts to collect this back - rental would cause the Alex , der family to be forced back to substandard housing.
