II. APPROVAL OF CLAIMS -- ContiAued On motion made by Mr. Place, seconded by Mr. Koczan and unani- mously carried, the Commission approved claims for payment total- ing $43,578.58. III. PROGRESS REPORT Mr. Melvin Milligan II, Acting Chairman of the Mayor's MAYOR'S Advisory Committee on Community Improvement, appeared ADVISORY before the Commission and explained the reasons why the COMMITTEE Committee feels that a Community Renewal Program is desir ble for South Bend at this time. The Commission pledged its wholehearted support to the Advis ry Committee. Mr. Sucher reported to the Commission that the Merri- field Metal Products has offered to purchase a parcel of land, 135' x 170', from the Redevelopment Department in the Sample Street. Industrial Area - Indiana R -7, located immediately North of the Aerospace ComFa,ny parcel. Upon review of the Redeveloper's Statement of Qualifications and Financial Responsibility by the Commission, the offer of pu chase of land by the Merrifield Metal Products was appro ed, subject to Urban Renewal Administration con- - curre ce, on motion made by Mr. Koczan, seconded by Mr. Place and unanimously carried. MERRIFIELD METAL PRODUCTS Aeros ace Company has requested that another 20' frontage AEROSPACE be sold to them in addition to the 80' x 1701 parcel they COMPANY have already bought. This also was tentatively approved by the Commission. Upon notion made by Mr. Place, seconded by Mr. Koczan and unanimously carried, the Commission approved re- investment of $100,000 from the Redevelopment District Capital Fund for 90 -days in U. S.
