IV. PROGRESS REPORT (Continued) <br />Mr. Sam Logan read a statement from the Urban League seeking Urban_ <br />fuller utilization of city -wide housing for persons to be League <br />displaced. <br />Business owners from Chapin Street north of Western Avenue Innerbelt <br />didcussed the problem of the realignment of the innerbelt Realign - <br />thorough are. They stated a realignment is undesirable ment <br />primarily because of a church and parochial school on Scott <br />Street n rth of Western Avenue. Since the South Bend School <br />City has been advised by the Housing Authority that they <br />feel a school is necessary in the Chapin Street Project Area, <br />it will he necessary to leave the final decision regarding <br />the realignment of the innerbelt route until the South Bend <br />Redevelo ment Department is notified by the School City <br />regardinc their plans. <br />Mr. Sucher reported that audits by both State and Federal State & <br />Auditors have been completed and that total sum of $191.11 Federal <br />plus $27.59 in petty cash has been found to be missing as Audit <br />a result of embezzlement by Mrs. D. Preston. The total amount <br />is cover d by bond, so that there will be no loss to the City. <br />Mr. L. J. <br />Perry, Chairman, <br />Committee on Minority Housing <br />Minority <br />Problems, <br />reported they are <br />trying to establish the course <br />Housing <br />of actior <br />for this committee <br />to take. The Commission <br />Problems <br />granted z <br />request for Mr. <br />Perry to enlarge his committee <br />and it w <br />s suggested that <br />he or someone he designates <br />attend m <br />etings of various <br />other committees to avoid <br />duplication <br />of efforts. <br />On motion made by Mr. Helmen, seconded by Mr. Place, and unanimously <br />carried,lthe meeting adjourned at 11:50 a.m. <br />s G. <br />s, President Freq J.
