South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Rescheduled Regular Meeting -November 2, 2007 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />B. South Bend Central Development Area <br />(1) continued... <br />different than what was approved. <br />Ms. Jones asked Mr. Inks and received <br />confirmation that the lease before the <br />Commission today is no different that was <br />approved October 19. <br />Mr. King called for the question. <br />The vote was four to one with Mr. <br />Peczkowski opposed. The motion carried. <br />(2) Staff report on acquisition of property in <br />the South Bend Central Development <br />Area. (Former Beebe Cabinet, 513 S. <br />Michigan St.) <br />Ms. Laurent: I wanted to point out the nature <br />of my conversations with Ms. Gabbard <br />because they are a good example of some of <br />the discussions today on communication. I <br />find her participation in this process excellent <br />and exemplary. I've been very forthright <br />with her. Our beginning of this planning <br />process involved a conversation with her <br />saying, "what is your long term plan for your <br />business there." She informed me that she <br />would like to retire from this business. She's <br />put her heart and soul into it. She's put <br />capital investment into that building that she <br />doesn't feel that she could recoup by selling. <br />So, in the course of our conversations, we <br />proceeded to leave her off of the acquisition <br />list. What I told her at that time was that we <br />are anticipating some major private <br />investment on her block. She expressed <br />COMMISSION APPROVED THE LEASE RENEWAL <br />FOR 1255.
