South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting -November 2, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Public Hearing
(7) continued...
an option that we will bring, parcel by parcel,
back to the Redevelopment Commission.
These are put on the acquisition list. It
doesn't mean as fact that they will be
acquired, but we have the opportunity to
acquire them.
MR. KEVIN BAUMGARTNER: I live at
315 S. Taylor. I live on the west side of a lot
of that property. I'm also a member of St.
Patrick's, which is on the west side. We own
a couple properties on the east side which are
not trying to be purchased yet, but they are
right next to Cleo Washington's and the lot
with the chain link fence. A lot of the
questions I had have been answered. You're
always concerned with what's going to
happen to the property. And I've known Jeff
for a long time. We don't want... Who
knows what's going to happen to the
property? As it sits, it's vacant. I guess I'm
thinking we have plenty of low income
housing in the area. I just don't know what's
going to be there, so we're concerned. We'll
go to whatever meetings and if you don't
want our properties, hopefully there will be a
good offer. But, still, we live across the
street and St. Patrick's is across the street.
So, we're very, very, very concerned with
what happens. We would like to buy it and
develop some beautiful places, but we don't
have the money, so...
MAYOR LUECKE: Again, there's been a
focus on a very small part of what has been
proposed for the planning process for around
46
