r
Methodology to calculate savings guarantee
The methodology used for projecting savings resulting from the implementation of the proposed
project is summarized in the following equation:
Annual Savings=Energy Savings+(O&M)+LTOS Energy Savings=Lighting Savings + Non -Lighting Savings
Where:
Annual Savings The total annual savings associated with implementation of this project. This is the
savings figure that will be used for comparison to the Guaranteed Savings as part of
the Annual Reconciliation.
Energy Savings The total annual savings associated with reduction in energy consumption as a
result of implementation of this project.
O&M The total annual savings associated with reduction in operations and maintenance
related expenses as a result of implementation of this project.
LTOS If agreed to by the Customer, the total annual savings associated with long-term
operational savings resulting from future capital replacement expenditures that are
being offset by the Customer as a result of implementation of this project.
Lighting Savings The total annual savings associated with reduction in energy consumption as a
result of implementation of the lighting ECMs in this project.
Non -Lighting Savings The total annual savings associated with reduction in energy consumption as a
result of implementation of the non -lighting ECMs in this project.
b. Describe the general categories of savings expected (e.g. utility, OM, capital cost
avoidance). For each category, discuss:
Which are likely to be guaranteed?
Ameresco can develop a project with one or multiple categories of savings. The two general
categories that are included in most projects are energy savings or production, Operational
Savings/Capital Cost Avoidance Savings. For a given project, there are often multiple sources of
savings as discussed in further detail below.
While each source of savings is guaranteed under the terms of the final contract, the measurement
and verification (M&V) plan that Ameresco develops with the customer describes what analysis
will be performed for each Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) and solar renewable asset.
Energy Savings and Energy Production
Ameresco guarantees typically focus on the specific ECMs and solar renewable assets that are
installed as part of a project. For Energy Conservation Measures, data is collected to verify that
the equipment is installed as intended and is performing as expected. For solar energy projects,
an extensive amount of data is collected from the DAS (Data Acquisition System) that is used to
monitor the various pieces of the system and to measure the energy production that occurs. Due
to the variables and dynamics that are unique to each project, and often to each facility within a
project, an individual M&V plan will be developed for the project that accounts for the building
City of South Beind .....
