Current Environment City of South Bend is building anew facility known as Technology Resource Center atCotalyst2. Requested Features City of South Bend has requested a wired and wireless infrastructure for this facility. The initial requirements are: • Wired infrastructure for 120 drops. Most likely not all of these will be connected to a switch initially. • Wireless infrastructure should provide full coverage for the facility. • A UPS to support the switches. Proposed Solution Overview: • The switch stack will be three 9300 switches (two 48-port and one-24 port). • The switch stack will route traffic to and from TRC across diverse Metronet Paths (A and B side) • Metronet paths will be 1Gbps (single -mode) • 5x 28021 APs will provide wireless coverage in areas with moderate ceiling heights • 3x 2802E APs will provide wireless coverage in areas with taller ceiling heights that utilize external antennas. • APs will be configured to talk back to the controller at DRNI (8 licenses are included) • Four UPS's have been offered. NSI recommends the Liebert GXTS. • City of South Bend will have the APs installed by the wiring vendor on site. Cisco DNA (Digital Network Architecture) 0 The included network equipment (wired and wireless) can be supported by Cisco's DNA -Center network controller. Over the coming years, delivering network services will be accomplished via network polices that an automation platform pushes out to the infrastructure. Cisco's DNA -Center provides the centralized platform that automates configuration and responds to network events to ensure network services are delivered as consistently and reliably as possible. High Availability/Redundancy o Redundant Core Switches SSO/NSF provides expected failover of less than 50ms o Software Patching The Cisco IOS-XE platform allows for both hot and cold patching to allow administrators to quickly apply bug fixes and security patches to operational software without waiting for a major software release. The Cisco Catalyst 9800 WLC comes equipped with intelligent rolling access point upgrades that steer clients to active APs while other APs are upgraded maximizing the availability of wireless services for an environment.
