ORDINANCE NO. 1 S ~ ~- ~~ <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA APPROPRIATING $124,736 RECEIVED FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF <br />HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT'S EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT <br />PROGRAM. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />In order. to deliver service to homeless individuals within our community, the City of <br />South Bend received funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for <br />the delivery of such services through various subgrantees. The funds appropriated in this <br />ordinance wilt aid in defraying the costs of shelter operation and maintenance and in providing <br />essential services and assistance in homeless prevention. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana: <br />Section I. The sum of $124,736 is hereby appropriated and allocated among accounts as <br />set forth below: <br />PROJECT NUMBER DESCRIPTION AMOUNT <br />JES OS-1 Center for the Homeless $45,360 <br />JES OS-2 Aids Ministries/Aids Assists 9,000 <br />JES OS-3 Youth Service Bureau 20,000 <br />JES OS-4 YWCA 45,376 <br />Administrative Costs 5,000 <br />TOTAL $124,736 <br />Section II. No costs will be incurred or funds expended for any of the programs <br />addressed in this ordinance prior to completion and subsequent certification of the Environmental <br />Review Process specified in Title Twenty-four (24) part Fifty-eight (58) of the Code of Federal <br />Regulations, containing the Environmental Review Procedures for the Emergency Shelter Grants <br />Program, and the receipt of an official release of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and <br />Urban Development. <br />Section III. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by <br />the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />Member of the Common ouncil <br />
