Project <br />number o <br />incomes <br />the City <br />RESOLUTION NO. 108 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND INVESTIGATING FHA 221 (d)(3) <br />HOUSING WITH RENT SUPPLEMENTATION <br />AS, the studies carried out in the LaSalle Park Urban Renewal <br />y the Redevelopment Commission indicate that a substantial <br />families to be displaced have incomes substantially below the <br />equired to secure decent, safe and sanitary housing within <br />of South Bend, and <br />WHEREAS, it is essential for the success of the renewal effort in <br />the LaSa le Park area that all families to be displaced have decent, safe <br />and soun4 housing available to them, and <br />WHEREAS,the recently enacted Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965 <br />provides a new rent supplement program which will provide payments on <br />behalf o lower income families being displaced to permit such families <br />to be able to afford the rentals on privately constructed and financed <br />decent, safe and sanitary housing, and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary in order to take advantage of this new rent <br />supplene t program that an adequate supply of housing financed with <br />Federal Housing Administration insured Section 221 (d) (3) mortgages, <br />be const ucted under the sponsorship of a non - profit corporation, and <br />WHEREAS, the organization of such a non - profit corporation, the <br />preparation of all necessary applications to the Federal Housing <br />t.dminist ation and the development of the needed housing required certain <br />technical and abilities, <br />NOW �HEREFORE THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BED 0 REQ ESTS THAT: <br />1. City Planning Associates, Inc., the planning consultant for <br />the LaSalle Park Project, proceed with all dispatch to take the necessary <br />steps to secure the advantages of the rent supplement program for the <br />families residing in the LaSalle Park area who will be displaced by the <br />carrying out of the urban renewal program and to other families living <br />in the C'ty of South Bend displaced by governmental action or living <br />in sub_ <br />s anda.rd housing who need such housing assistance. <br />2. <br />non -pro <br />under t <br />at necessary steps be taken for <br />corporation and the development <br />rent supplement program. <br />Adopted this 5th day of August 1965. <br />the formation of a proper <br />by it of housing to be utilized <br />
