RESOLUTION NO. 124 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT <br />C MMISSION "CONFIRMING A DECLARATORY RESOLUTION IN RE- <br />G RDS:`'T9 THE LASALLE PARK URBAN RENEWAL AREA PROJECT <br />NO- IND R -57. <br />WHEREAS the City of South Bend Department of Redevelopment has, pureuAd to the <br />Redevelopment of Cities and Towns Act of 1953, as amended, investigated and studied <br />that area of the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph, State of Indiana, designated <br />as the LaSalle Park Urban Renewal Area, which area is bounded by a line drawn: as <br />follows: <br />Beginning at the point of the intersection of the north right -of -way line <br />of Linden Avenue and a line which is an extension of the west right -of - <br />w y line of the alley between and parallel to Sheridan Avenue and C h-1- <br />cago Street; proceed east along the north right -of -way line of Linden <br />Avenue to a point 129.0 feet, more or less, east of the east right-of - <br />way line of Falcon Street; thence south along a line which is 129.0 feet, <br />more or less, east of and parallel to the east right -of -way line of Falcon <br />Street, a distance of 388.3 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in a <br />westerly direction a distance of 129.0 feet, more or less, to the east <br />right-of -way line of Falcon Street; thence south along said right -of -way <br />lie a distance of 485.7 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an <br />easterly direction a distance of 129.0 feet, more or less, to the west <br />ri ht -of -way line of the alley between and parallel to Falcon Street <br />ar d Lake Street; thence south along said alley right -of -way line a dis- <br />taace of 116.0 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an easterly <br />direction a distance of 203.0 feet, more or less, to the east. right-of - <br />way line of Lake Street; thence south along said right -of -way line a <br />distance of 50.0 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an east- <br />er ly direction a distance of 793.0 feet, more or less, to the west right- <br />of -way line of the alley between and parallel to Kentucky, Street and Dun- <br />d e Street; thence south along said alley right -of -way line a'distance of <br />250. 0 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an easterly direction <br />al ng a line north of and parallel to the north right -of -way line of Wash- <br />ino,t,on Street, to the west right -of -way line of the alley west of and para <br />11 1 to Kaley Street; thence north along said alley right -of -way line to the <br />north right -of -way line of the New York Central Railroad; thence south- <br />easterly along said right -of -way line to the east right -of -way line of the <br />first alley east of and parallel to Meade Street; thence south along said <br />alley right -of -way line to the center line of the first alley north of and <br />parallel to Western Avenue; thence west along said alley center line to <br />the west right -of -way line of the alley between and parallel to Sheridan <br />Avenue and Chicago Street; thence north along said alley right -of -way <br />lie to the north right -of -way line of Linden Avenue which is the place of <br />beginning; and <br />WHEREAS, upon such investigation being made it has been found by the, :Commis- <br />sioners that such area has become blighted to an extent that such condition cannot <br />be corrected by regulatory process, or by the ordinary operations of private en- <br />terprise without resort to the provisions of the Redevelopment of Cities and Towns <br />Act of 1953, as amended, and it has been further found that the public health and <br />welfare would be benefited by the acquisition and redevelopment of such area under <br />the provision of such act; and <br />WHERI <br />the bou <br />erties, <br />AS the Commissioners have caused to be prepared maps and plans showing <br />idaries of such blighted area, the location of the various parcels of prop- <br />streets and alleys and;other features affecting the acquisition, clearance, <br />-1- R 303(3) <br />
