IND. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 233 <br />c_, t <br />pvOi 4,-3 eY iAA M <br />J <br />N OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION CONFIRMING A <br />RY RESOLUTION IN REGARDS TO THE CENTRAL DOWNTOWN URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT <br />R -66 <br />WHEREAS the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment has, pursuant to the <br />Redevelopment of Cities and Towns Act of 1953, as amended, investigated and <br />studied that area of the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph, State of <br />Indiana, designated as the Central Downtown Urban Renewal Project, which area <br />is bounded by a line drawn as follows: <br />of -wa <br />Stree <br />the n <br />north <br />line <br />line <br />Boule <br />along <br />of -wa <br />line <br />thenc <br />south <br />right <br />direc <br />River <br />of th <br />Avenu <br />to th <br />begin <br />WHEREAS, <br />that suc <br />correcte <br />enterpri <br />Towns Ac <br />health a <br />of such <br />WHEREAS <br />boundari <br />properti <br />of prope <br />which ar <br />under th <br />WHEREAS <br />declarin <br />constitu <br />inhabits <br />area and <br />ing at a point formed by the intersection of the north right - <br />line of LaSalle Avenue and the west right -of -way line of Main <br />thence south along the west right -of -way line of Main Street to <br />rth right -of -way line of Washington Street; thence west along the <br />right -of -way line of Washington Street to the west right -of -way <br />f LaFayette Boulevard; thence south along the west right -of -way <br />f LaFayette Boulevard to the south right -of -way line of Jefferson <br />ard; thence east along the south right -of -way line of Jefferson <br />and to the west right -of -way line of Main Street; thence south <br />the west right -of -way line of Main Street to the south right - <br />line of Monroe Street; thence east along the south right -of -way <br />f Monroe Street to the west right -of -way line of Fellows Street; <br />south along the west right -of -way line of Fellows Street to the <br />right -of -way line of Monroe Street; thence east along the south <br />of -way line of Monroe Street and proceeding in a northeasterly <br />ion along said right -of -way line to the center of the St. Joseph <br />thence proceeding in a northwesterly direction along the center <br />St. Joseph River to the north right -of -way line of LaSalle <br />thence west along the north right -of -way line of LaSalle Avenue <br />west right -of -way line of Main Street which is the point of <br />upon such investigation being made it has been found by the Commissioners <br />area has become blighted to an extent that such condition cannot be <br />by regulatory process, or by the ordinary operations of private <br />e without resort to the provisions of the Redevelopment of Cities and <br />of 1953, as amended, and it has been further found that the public <br />d welfare would be benefited by the acquisition and redevelopment <br />,rea under the provisions of such act; and <br />:he Commissioners have caused to be prepared maps and plans showing the <br />is of such blighted area, the location of the various parcels of <br />:s, streets and alleys and other features affecting the acquisition, <br />replanning and redevelopment of such area indicating the parcels <br />-ty to be excluded from acquisition and portions of the area acquired <br />to be devoted to streets, parks, playground, and other public purposes <br />i redevelopment plan; and <br />:he Commissioners did on the 4th day of April, 1968 pass a resolution <br />;, among other things, that the above described area is blighted and <br />:es a menace to the social and economic interests of the City and its. <br />its and that it will be of public utility and benefit to acquire such <br />redevelop the same under the provisions of the Redevelopment of Cities <br />M <br />
