RESOLUTION NO. 217 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF BID OF LAYMEN C.M.E. CHURCH AND MR. ROBERT BATTEAST FOR LAND IN THE LASAPPE PARK PROJECT, IND. R -57 WHEREAS, the South Bend Redevelopment Commission accepted bids by public offering on April 11, 1968, for sale of land within the LaSalle Park Project and that the Place and Company, Incorporated, 1920 Ridgedale Road, South Bend, Indiana, bid for Parcel Nos. 19 -4, 33 -9 and 33 -10 was accepted as being the highest acceptable bid; and WHERE S, the South Bend Redevelopment Commission has received a petition in writing from Place and Company, dated May 16, 1968, requesting that their bid for the above named parcels of land be withdrawn and that they be relieved of all responsibility for the development thereof; and WHERE S, the South Bend Redevelopment Commission received at the afore- mentioned public offering, the bids of Laymen .Chapel C.M.E. Church for Parcel Nos. 33 -9 and 33 -10 in the amount of $1,334 and that of Mr. Robert Batteast for Parcel No. 19 -4 in the amount of $805; and WHEREAS, the South Bend Redevelopment Commission has determined that it would be in the best interest of the objectives of the Urban Renewal Plan to approve the withdrawal of the bid by Place and Company for the aforementioned parcels; ` NOW, T EREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the South Bend Redevelopment Com- missioi approves the withdrawal of the bid of Place and Company for Parcel Nos. 19 -4, 33 -9 and 33 -10 and further approves relieving Place and Company of all responsibility as developer for said parcels under the Ur an Renewal Plan; and BE IT 7URTHER RESOLVED THAT, the South Bend Redevelopment Commission hereby accepts the next highest bid for said parcels as follows: Parcel No. Bidder Square Footage Price 19 -4 Robert Batteast 10,320 $805. 33 -9 Laymen Chapel C.M.E. Church 8,385 667. 33 -1 If 11 11 8,385 667. Adopte at a regular meeting of the South Bend Redevelopment Commission held o May 16, 1968, at the office of the Commission, 120 West LaSalle Avenue Suite 1001, South Bend, Indiana.
