Bac�d The City of South Bend engaged Arcadis U.S. to assist with a Stress Testing Evaluation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant to evaluate the critical hydraulic and critical processes to move to 100 MGD through secondary treatment. This effort has identified the major projects remaining at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and the areas of the Wastewater Treatment Plant that require rehabilitation to meet the 100 MGD future flow. Part of this effort has focused on the City's ability to disinfect wastewater prior to reclaiming the water to the St. Joseph River and Lake Michigan. The extension of services is to focus on disinfection pilot testing during major rain events as well as bench testing to determine how the disinfection facilities need to be expanded to provide the level of treatment required by 10 States Standards and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. All of these efforts compliment the Long Term Control Plan goal of moving the Wastewater Treatment Plant to 100 MGD capacity. This effort will help us along the path to making critical decisions for the Chlorine Contact Tanks and Disinfection Building upgrades. Please refer to the Amendment No. 2 document for a full scope of the additional services.
