243, Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.M. John F. De Haven absent. the following communeatioA was ordered, sent to the, Southern Michigan -Railway Company by the Board. Southern Mic4 gan Railway Co. S.outh Bends Ltd iar a Gentlemen,:-' Attention R. R. Smith, Mgr. Replying to your, letter of December 17th., in re: rd t.o the cement curb along the,railwiy tracks on North Michigan Street betwee-n 1%r Shore Drive and Wakewa Avenue the Board of Public Works consent to -the payment by your Company to the Hi hays Materials Com any of the amount°due them for the installation of curb along railway racks on &Rove mentioned street. ° ° This consmnt is given by the Board of Public Works on the express under- standing that the Highways Materials Company file with this Board,& complete release oovering the payment of any sum due them for the construction;of this curb. Dec. 17;1920: Board of Public Work Ci$y of South Bend, Works, Gentlemen:- With* reference to the installation -of the coon& curb on North Michigan Street between North Shore Drive and Wakewa.Avenue. Yourrecords will show that this company agreed to pay the city.of South Bend for the curb which was installed about one foot outside of our rails between the above points. The Highways Materials Company.has requested me to write you stating that our x willingness to pay them direct for this work instadd of paying the city. This Companywill be glad to make payment direct to the company which made the installation provident _ the City of South Bend will assign this amount to the Highways Materials Company. r Yours very truly, Rr. .Rr. Fenno Dit Eggineer in regard to renewal of Portage Avenue Bridge over the Michigan Central Division. Bard granted permission to close Portage Avenue at this point for a period of three (3) weeks from December 29th1., 1920, arrangements to be made by the Street Commissioners for de tit::urs . Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for -pipe sewer on Stanfield Street from Howard Street to Corby Street, under iMprovement Resolution No.' s06. :n the City of South Bend, Indiana. Resolved that notices to the assessments be pubished on the 28th. day of December 1920 and on the 4th. day of January 1920'in the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that°this Board will give a hearing on the amount of assessments at its office in the City Ball on the 12th. day of January 1921 at 7:15 P.M. Resolved further, that the entire work under -the above contract he accepted and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed;
