RESOLUTION NO. 171 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, IN SUPPORT OF THE MODEL CITIES <br />PROGRAM <br />WHE , the solution to social, physical and economic problems <br />within our urban area required a comprehensive, coordinated and <br />concentrated approach and, <br />WHEREA , a linkage must be developed between projects and activities <br />designed to develop human resources with those for improving the <br />physic 1 environment and, <br />WHE citizen participation should be encouraged in planning and <br />carrying out improvement programs and, <br />WHERE A;, major emphasis should be placed on meeting the needs of <br />famili s in certain areas for jobs, education, health and social <br />servic s and, <br />WHEREAS, improved housing and necessary community facilities are <br />needed within certain neighborhoods and, <br />WHEREAS, an opportunity now exists to search out new paths to the <br />local solution of local problems <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Redevelopment Commission <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana, agrees with the basic objectives <br />of the Model Cities Program and commits itself to the achievement <br />of these goals. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Redevelopment Commission supports <br />the i terrelated and interdisciplinary approach proposed in the <br />progr and feels that such an approach will facilitate the <br />solvi g of our social, physical and economic problems on a <br />coord Hated, concentrated and comprehensive basis not only within <br />the t raet area but throughout the urban area. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Redevelopment Commission commits itself <br />to work with the Demonstration City Agency in the preparation of <br />a program and agrees to provide staff services as outlined in the <br />anuli ation. <br />and adopted this 6th day of April, 1967. <br />REDEVELOAM COMMISSION <br />OF THE ITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />a A.
