<br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT FOR THE SALE OF 
<br />LAND FOR REDEVELOPMENT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC PARKS OF 
<br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR LAND IN THE CHAPIN STREET PROJECT, 
<br />INDIANA R -29 
<br />The Department of Public Parks of the City of South Bend has 
<br />I a written offer meeting the approved minimum price on Disposal 
<br />immonly referred to as No. 2, Chapin Street Project, Indiana R -29; and, 
<br />WHEREAS, the South Bend Redevelopment Commission has determined that the 
<br />acceptance of this bid is in_ accordance with the approved disposal program 
<br />for this area; and, 
<br />WHEREAS, the Commission has entered into a cooperation agreement with the 
<br />Department of Public Parks of the City of South Bend, under date of 
<br />February 20, 1965, for the purchase and redevelopment of said land, and the 
<br />Commission has determined that the redeveloper possesses the qualifications 
<br />and financial resources necessary to acquire and develop said land in 
<br />accordan a with the Urban Renewal Plan; and, 
<br />WHEREAS, the Commission has determined that, in accordance with the Urban 
<br />Renewal Ian as recorded, the land to be sold is for a public purpose and 
<br />public u e, and, therefore, considers the disposal of said land by negotiation 
<br />to the r developing public body to be the appropriate method of land 
<br />disposition; and, 
<br />WHEREAS, the minimum price to be offered for said land has been-determined 
<br />in aecor anee with all applicable Statutes of the State of Indiana, and the 
<br />rules, r gulations, and Federal Statutes governing the sale of urban renewal 
<br />land to i Public Body for public use; and, 
<br />WHEREAS, the offer of $73,527 by the Department of Public Parks of the City 
<br />of South Bend is satisfactory and is not less than the fair market value for 
<br />use in a cordance with the Urban Renewal Plan as determined by the applicable 
<br />statutes, rules, and regulations cited above. 
<br />NOW, TH EFORE, THE SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION accepts the offer 
<br />of and au horizes execution of a contract with the Department of Public Parks 
<br />of The C'ty of South Bend to acquire at a price of $73,527 to redevelop the 
<br />designat d Disposition Parcel No. 2 for park "aad.;recreational purposes; 
<br />subject o the concurrence of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
