I. CHLORINE SPECIFICATIONS <br />INCLUDE BOTH 1504 AND TON CYLINDERS <br />A. GENERAL <br />Only containers which currently are authorized by regulation for chlorine, <br />which have been inspected and reconditioned as described herein, and which <br />have been tested within the period required by regulations should be filled. It <br />is illegal to ship chlorine containers that have been filled by or without the <br />consent of the owner. <br />2. Due to the volatile nature of this chemical, the chlorine provider must be able <br />to have one (1) accredited Safety and Handling of Chlorine class per year for <br />South Bend Personnel. <br />Chlorine quotes should be deposit -free. CHLORINE 150 POUND CYLINDERS <br />1. Construction <br />a) All cylinders must be compatible with Chlorine Institute Emergency Kit "A". All <br />kit devices must be useable on any cylinder in chlorine service. The maximum <br />neck ring diameter that will accommodate an "A" hood is 4-314 inches. <br />2. Cylinder Types <br />a) Chlorine cylinders must comply with DOT specs, 3A480, 3AA480, 25, 3, 3BN480 <br />or 3E1800. The regulations permit only one opening in chlorine cylinders -at <br />the top for the valve connection. <br />3. Cylinder Styles <br />a) Cylinders may be of three styles: footring, bumped bottom, or double bottom. <br />4. Cylinder Threads <br />a) The threads in new cylinders are NGT threads 314-14NGT(CI). <br />
