Zoning and Annxatlor~ on~n~i~ee Meeting ~4D7 south fiend orn~n~n C~~nc~l The January $, ~~~ meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Or~mittee of the South Bend on~r~on auncil was called to order by its hairpersan, auncil Member AI "Buddy" at 4:30 p~m. in the auncil's Informal Meeting Roam. Persons in attendance included auncii Members Dieter darner, I~uspaf Rouse, belly, I~irsits and Pu~~ello; Mayor Stephen . Luecke, Public l~llorks Director nary ilat, Don Inks, pity Ierk John 1lo0rde, Robert Nemeth, Bill Schalliol, Rita I~apala, Martha Lewis, Christian J. Davey Jarr~ie I~oo of the au~h Bead Tri~burre, and kCathln ekanski- Farrandr Council Attorney. Douncil Member I~irsits Hated that he and Council Member Kuspa have e~cohanged being chairs of the Zoning and Annexation Committee and the Utilities Cammiee. He thanked Council Member Kusp far all his hard work as past Chairperson of the Zoning and Annexation C~rnmittee, and thanked him for taking aver the Utilities Con~n~itte especially in an election yearwhen people tend to complain about their sewer and water rates. Robert Nemeth, a staff member with Area Plan reported that the Bill received a unanimous favorable recommendation f ror the Area Plan Commission an its request to rezone appra~cirately three ~3} acres from "l..l" Light Industrial to ~`~" Community Business. Christian J. Davey with offices at 3930 Edison Lakes Pkwy,, Suite X00 in Mishawaka made the farrnal presentation. He noted that the rezoning vwrauld allow development of retail uses, He Hated that he met with Council Member Dieter who represents this area and they have discussed such uses as restaurantf a deli and various chaps. Bill Schallial of the Departr~ent f amn~unity and ~conoic Development spoke in favor of the roning~ There was na one present to speak in opposition.
