*CITY OF SOUTH BEND I OFFICE OF THE CLERK
would guess, and I don't want to discourage anyone who is advocating an ordinance, but I think
that would be a tough sell to get done by April or March, so it would be my suggestion as a body
here that we first (1st)pass a resolution to heighten the awareness of the importance of this and to
put in mind for the rest of the Council what we have to do through the budget process this summer
and then I don't know if it has to be as late as December, but sometime this fall, maybe early this
fall, get that ordinance. I'm all for being the second (2nd) city in the nation to pass an ordinance
before I exit stage left here. So, anyway, I'll be working toward that.
Co-Committee Chair Broden stated, Thank you very much. An important point is that the
Administration is currently working on a budget, right? We typically see that around the first(1st)
of July, correct? At least get an early peak sneak. And then we have to finalize that by November
1st, correct? It has to be signed by us and by the Administration. So, that's an important schedule
to keep in mind, and I would like to recognize before our departure tonight, we have a couple of
individuals in the chambers from the Administration, and if I could direct attention to Suzanna
Fritzberg from the Office of the Mayor and if you'll stand up please, as well as Jaimie Morgan
from the Mayor's Office. Thank you all, I think that should conclude the evening. Special thanks
to Graham Sparks and to our attorney,Bob Palmer, and to my Common Council peers Mr. Voorde
and Mr. Teshka.
With no further business, Co-Committee Chair Broden adjourned the Joint Health and Public
Safety and Utilities Committee Meeting at 7:47 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jo .
