RESO <br />AUTH <br />GRAN <br />RESOLUTION NO. 369 <br />TION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT <br />IZING THE FILING OF AN AMENDATORY APPLICATION FOR LOAN AND <br />FOR PROJECT NO. IND. R -57 <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the public interest that the City <br />of.South Bend, Department of Redevelopment avail itself of the financial <br />assistance provided by Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, as amended, to <br />carry out the urban renewal project described as the LaSalle Park Urban <br />Renewal Area and bounded generally as follows: <br />LaSalle Park Project bounded on the west by the alley west of <br />Chicago; bounded on the south by the alley north of Western; <br />bounded on the east by the alley east of Meade; bounded on-the <br />north by Kankakee Avenue, Washington Street, the LaSalle Park <br />Beck's Lake Park area, and Linden Street. <br />hereinafter referred to as the "Project "; and <br />WHEREAS, it is recognized that the Federal contract for such finan- <br />cial assistance, pursuant to said Title I, will impose certain obligations <br />and responsibilities upon the Local Public Agency and will require among <br />other things: (1) the provision of local grants -in- aid; (2) feasible <br />method for the relocation of individuals and families displaced from the <br />project area; and (3) other local obligations and responsibilities in <br />connection with the undertaking and carrying out of urban renewal projectsy <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1'964 and the regulations <br />of the Department of Housing and Urban Development effectuating that Title, <br />provide that no person shall, on the ground of race, color, sex,or <br />national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits <br />of, or be subjected to discrimination in the undertaking and carrying out of <br />the urban renewal projects assisted under Title I of the Housing Act of <br />1949, as amended; and <br />WHEREAS, the objectives of the Urban Renewal Plan cannot be achieved <br />through more extensive rehabilitation of the Project Aiea: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of South Bend, Redevelop- <br />ment Commission: <br />1. That the United States of America and the Secretary of Housing and <br />Urban De elopment be, and they hereby are, assured of full compliance by the <br />City of outh Bend, Department of Redevelopment with regulations of the <br />Departme t of Housing and Urban Development effectuating Title VI of the <br />Civil Ri hts Act of 1964 and applicable Executive Orders. <br />2. That an amendatory application on behalf of the City of South Bend, <br />Departme t of Redevelopment for a loan under Section 102 (a) of said Title I <br />in the amount of $5,015,980.00 and for a project capital grant and a re- <br />location grant to the full amount available for undertaking and financing the <br />Project is hereby approved, and that the Executive Director is hereby <br />authoriz d and directed to execute and to file such application with_ the <br />Departme t of Housing and Urban Development, to provide such additional infor- <br />mation a d to furnish such documents as may be required in behalf of said <br />Departme t, and to act as the authorized correspondent of the City of South <br />Bends; De artment of Redevelopment. <br />
