SpUTH B.4,1O
tiU C
4, PEACE }r::.'
v
86X"
OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK
KAREEMAH FOWLER, CITY CLERK
UTILITIES FEBRUARY 11, 2019 4:04 P.M.
(ORGANIZATIONAL)
Committee Members Present: Jake Teshka, Sharon L. McBride
Committee Members Absent: Oliver Davis, Regina Williams-Preston
Other Council Present: Tim Scott,Jo M. Broden, John Voorde, Karen White
Other Council Absent: Gavin Ferlic
Others Present: Graham Sparks, Bob Palmer
Agenda: Organizational Meeting
Committee Chair Jake Teshka called to order the Organizational Meeting for the Utilities
Committee at 4:04 p.m.He introduced members of the Committee and proceeded with the meeting.
Organizational Meeting
Committee Chair Teshka stated, Last year we had six(6)meetings. This year I anticipate the main
things the Utilities Committee will focus on are, obviously, CSO. We had a meeting last week to
get an update on that and we will continue to get regular updates from Public Works to figure out
where they are at in the process with the EPA and if there is anything that we can do to assist them
in that process. We all know how big of an issue that is. The dollar amount we are looking at will
have a big impact on our budget. The other thing and other big priority will be the storm water
issue. Public Works has promised they will come back to us before June 1, the implementation
date,to talk about these lifeline rates and the possibilities there in terms of what we can do. Those
are the two (2) main things I envision. We may have to call a special meeting here or there but
outside of that, I'll open it up to the Committee. .
Committee Chair Teshka opened the floor to Committee and Council Members.
Committeemember Sharon L. McBride stated, I did have a request from the Sunnymede neighbors
for an update on CSO. I reached out to Administration and they were hoping that update could be
delayed until the studies come out in March. So, after the data comes out, we would like to see an
update.
Committee Chair Teshka replied, Yeah, and I think a larger public setting would be good to have
an overall update. Again, we had a smaller update to Council last week and, again, we will get
INTEGRITYI SERVICEI ACCESSIBILITY
JENNIFER M.COFFMAN BIANCA L.TIRADo JOSEPH R MOLNAR
CIIIEF DEPUTY/DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS DEPUTY/DIRECTOR OF POLICY ORDINANCE VIOLATION CLERK
EXCELLENCE I ACCOUNTABILITY I INNOVATION I INCLUSION I EMPOWERMENT
455 County-City Building 1227 W.Jefferson Blvd.I South Bend,Indiana 46601 I p 574.235.9221 I f 574.235.9173 I www.southbendin.gov
