Business Relocation 85()9691 <br />Displaced businesses purchasing a replacement <br />building within the City of South Bend will be <br />eligible for a payment to cover costs associated with <br />bringing the replacement location up to local, state <br />and federal codes and for making improvements to the <br />building that make it comparable to the building <br />acquired by Redevelopment. The maximum payment will <br />be $15,000, must be used for code items first, and <br />will only be available for replacement buildings <br />within the City of South Bend. It will be the <br />responsibility of the owner to see that the building <br />meets all code requirements for occupancy. <br />The following procedures will be used in determining <br />the amount of payment: <br />1. Displaced business selects replacement <br />building and Department of Redevelopment has <br />it inspected by Neighborhood Code <br />Enforcement. <br />2. All'code violations are brought to the <br />ON attention of the displaced business. <br />3. Displaced business obtains a minimum of two <br />proposals for necessary repair work. <br />4. Department of Redevelopment provides written <br />authorization to displaced business to enter <br />into contract with contractor submitting the <br />lowest proposal. This contract shall specify <br />a time period for completion of all work - <br />not to exceed sixty (60) days. <br />5. Amount of contract is used in determining the <br />amount of payment. <br />6. Work is done by contractor. <br />7. Inspection is made by Neighborhood Code <br />Enforcement Office to assure Department of <br />Redevelopment that work has been completed to <br />code requirements. <br />8.
