<br />right to reject any and all b ids .

<br />Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no written remon-
<br />s trance filed. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the
<br />benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the
<br />estimated cost of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon
<br />takes final action on said . res olut ion as mod if ied: -- Modified ied to eliminate comb inat ion
<br />curb and gutter and present curb to be used, and the same is hereby in all things,
<br />ratified, c onf irmed and approved.
<br />Resolved further, that notices be published on the 14th. , day of
<br />March 1919 and on the 21st., day of March 1919 in the South,Bend Daily Tribune,
<br />in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said
<br />improvements up to 10:00 A.M. on the 1st., day of April 1919. The Board reserves
<br />the right to reject any and all b ids .
<br />Deferred hearing on Improvement Res olut Ion No. 591 for , the Pavement
<br />o Fellows Street from Division Street to Monroe. Street and from Sample Street to
<br />Duba it Avenue, in the City of South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Upon said hearing remanstrators appeared but no further written
<br />remonstrance filed. And the Board find. that- there `bedng a! number less than the
<br />majority of the resident free -holders who have signed the remonstrance, the the Board
<br />now over --rules said written remonstrance filedFebruary 19th., 1919 and March 12th.,
<br />1919. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits
<br />to property li.;,ble to be assessed for said -improvements are equal to the estimated
<br />cost of the same, as reported by the City C iv i1 Engineer, and thereupon takes final
<br />action on said resolution as modified:- The -Board modified said resolution to read
<br />a twenty three (23) foot roadway and retain present curb , and the same is hereby
<br />in all things, ratified, c onf irmed and approved as mod if ied: --
<br />The Board further resolve that no notices for receiving of bids be
<br />advertised until the expiration of the ten (10) day remonstrance period as now provided
<br />by law.
<br />Mr. Richard Elbel appeared bebore the Board in the interest of the
<br />Park Board and took up thef811owing matters with the Board.
<br />Requested permission to have dirt from the Olive Street Pavement
<br />Improvement for to put on Kaley Park. Board advised Mr. Elbel he would have to see
<br />Contractor who would get the work about the dirt.
<br />About the Park Board getting the old shed at the rear of No. 4 Hose
<br />House. The Board advised Mr. Elbel to take this matter u,D with Mr. Layton, Street
<br />Commiss ioner,
<br />Too up the matter of the Board starting a resolut ion for the pavement
<br />of Calvert Street through the Studebaker Park. Stated to the Board.that the Board
<br />of Park Commissioners did not want a public streOht going throughx-this Park. Board
<br />advised Mr. Elbel that a resolution had been started and. set for hearing on Pavement
<br />on Calvert Street.
