9 <br />Tuesday March llth. ,1919. <br />° Board met in spec ial session at 1:30 P.M. All members present, City <br />Attorney, T. W. Slick -and City Civil.Enginear F. J. Anderson present. Meeting held in <br />common C ounc it chambers,. this being the date set for deferred hearing on Track Separat on <br />in this City from Tuesday February 18th. 91919. <br />The Various Companies affected by Track'Separation in this City <br />were represented at this meeting by the following representatives. <br />The New York Central Railway Company by, Attorneys Hubbell and Walker, Civil Engineers <br />R. 0'. Vote and A. M. Currier and E. H. Potter_ Agent. The Grand Trunk Western Railway <br />Company By Civil Engineer H..S. Going and Mr. Irvin, Chicago, South Bend & Northenn <br />Indiana Railway Company by Attorney H. A. Wa ir, and R. R. Smith Gen' 1. Mgr., Vandalia <br />Railroad Company by Mr. Johnson. <br />Chamber of -;Commerce by Abe Livingston and Howard Emmons, and <br />Oliver Chilled Plow Works by Mr. Cunningham. , <br />A pub l is discussion was held on the question of a site for the <br />erecting of a union °scat ion' in this City along With 'Track Separat ion. -The different <br />parties ` interested in a union station were heard, but because of the fact that the <br />Grand Trunk Western Railway Company was represented only by Mr. H S. Going, Civil <br />Engineer who stated that he had no authority to 'dec.ide the ;policy of his ,company, <br />upon his request it was decided to notify Mr. W. D. Robb, Vice President of the Grand <br />Trunk Western Railway Company at General Headquarters, McGill Street, Montreal, <br />Canada to be present at the next regular hearing on Track Separation in this City. <br />° The Board and representatives of the New York Central Ry. Co. and <br />Grand Trunk Western Ry. Company then went into executive session and discussed legal and <br />Eng ineer ing questions affecting the New York Central 1*ilway Co. and the Grand Trunk <br />Railway Company and Vandalia Ry. in regard to Track Separation under Modified <br />Resolution No. 2. Attorney S, C. Hubbell, -Attorney for New York Central Ry. Co, and <br />H. S. Gaffing Civil Engineer for Grand Trunk Western ,,y. Company requested permission <br />to file lamended est 3.mates . It was agreed -by -the -Board that permission be granted <br />Tihe New. loYork Central Railway Company and Grand Trunk Western Railway Company ,to <br />prepare 'amended estimates and that said estimates be filed with the Board and that <br />these amended estimates be approved when full Board is in session. Matters of the <br />d iv is ion of costs sof approaches at streets and alleys where there were no separation <br />of grades :were discussed and Mr. Walker Counsel for the New York Central_ -Railway CO., <br />suggested that these matters be taken care$by a memoradum of agreement instead of <br />by a contract. No definite action was taken. The matter of closing alley east- of <br />Michigan Street across the New York Central Railway Company right of wayand opening <br />an alley to Michigan Street was tentatively agreed upon bettvean :the Representatives <br />of the -New York Central Rail -say Company -and the City and .the cost of the proceedings <br />would be. oa id for on ba.449 of 25% by City and 75% by the New Yrok: Central Ry. Co., <br />Resolution No. <br />at1: 30P.M. <br />It was decided by the Board that thid hearing on Track Separation <br />2 and . plans and estimates be deferred until Tuesday April 1st. , i.919 <br />President. <br />
