Remonstrance received, read -and placed ,on file-,.ggainst-pavement on <br />and sewer can High Street. Same read and placed on file. <br />Finanic ial report of the City Cemetery Sexton filed with the Board. <br />Dr. C`. H. Meyers and Attorney Sehellinger-appeared-before the <br />Board and regp.ested that the Board take up. -the proceedings started sometime ago <br />for the opening of a _highway from Sample Stk6et -to ' Ew.ing Av6' nue in this City, <br />in the southwest part of City. The Board agreed to.set this resolution for an <br />Informal hearing.for-Saturday February 15th.,1919 at 10:00 A:M. The 'Clerk of the <br />Beard was instructed to send out notices to propetty owners -interested in this <br />-opening af- s-a 1-d- meet-ing. <br />Bruno De Peape appeared before the Board in regard to the payment <br />for rebuilding sewer on East La Salle Avenue. The Board instructed the City <br />Controller to pay the check due Bruno De Peape in :the sum of $1,999.30 <br />for the rebuilding of East La Salle Avenue sewer, and the Board ordered that Bruno <br />De Peape is to pay the Street Department the sum of One Hundred ($100.00)Dollars <br />for services rendered in cleaning out new sewer, and that Bruno De Peape is to <br />deposit with the City Controller payable to his order his certified check in the <br />sure of` One Hundred ($100.00) for a period of ninety (90) days from date, this is <br />to cover any cleaning out of the sewer by the Street Department within the period <br />of ninety (90) •days. These checks to be deposit before the voucher is paid out. <br />Bruno De Peape agreed to deposit said checks before receiving voucher. <br />Geo. M. Urey, Sexton of the City Cemetery met with the Board <br />and discussed the matter of the Ctetery associations wanting to have no fuaerels <br />on Sunday in this City. The Board advised Mr. _Urey that they would take no <br />action in regard to this matter at the present time, but if agreeable to other <br />Cemeteries in the City, that the City would agreed to it also. <br />The following resolution was adopted by the Board. <br />STREET OR ALLEY IMPROVEMENT RESOJJUTION N0. 612. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />ST. JOSEHH COUNTY, STATE OF INDIANA, that it is desired and deemed necessary <br />` to improve She first alley east of St. Louis Boulevard from La Salle Avenue to <br />'Madison ` Street as follows, to -wit: - <br />Said alley shall be graded and the roadway there <br />of shall be paved; and also the roadway of certain portions of the streets and <br />alleys which enter or intersect said_ street shall be graded and paved. The paving <br />material to be used in making said improvement shall be Sheet Asphalt, Bitulithic <br />Asphaltic concrete or Brick; and the foundation shall be portland cement concrete <br />five (5) inches thick for. the Sheet .Asphalt, bitulithieVi asphaltic concrete and <br />brick or rolled gravel six (6) inches thick for the Brick; or construct ing ' a <br />Portland cement Cnncrete pavement at least seven (7) inches thick; storm.water <br />.inlets and conduits shall be constructed where'neeessary; all manhole tops <br />and storm water inlets shall be set to the proper grade; cement marginal curb <br />shall be constructed at all streets aiid alleys where necessary, all as is more r <br />particularly shown and all in accordance with the Plans, profiles, detail <br />drawings and specifications on file in, the office of the Department of Public <br />Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />The coat of the Improvement herein provided for, ezoent street and Ailey intersections, shall be paid by <br />1pdab.t assessment to be levied upon the property specially bene$tted, to the amount that the same may be leg- <br />any assessed therefor, in accordance with an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled <br />"An Act Concerning 1:11�n cipal Corporations," approved March 6, 1906, and In accordance with and pursuant <br />to the provisions of all acts amendatory and supplemEatal thereto. <br />
