Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.M. All members present. <br />Petition received read and.placed on file for a grade, curb and walk <br />on West Dubail Avenue from Kemble Avenue to Prairie Avenue. <br />The Board of Public Works decided to have kdyor F. R. Carson go to <br />Washington, D. C. to p�&,ce J'he matter of the paving of Portage Avenue before the <br />proper committee of the Highway Council to obtain favorable action by the Committee <br />for the release of sufficient materials to complete this improvement this year, and <br />the Board allowed an expense of $200.00 to cover this trip.. <br />Mr.- Kelsey appeared before the Board and presented a Flat of the Replat <br />of Lots 17,18 and 19 and Sub. Division of Out Lot "A." in Henry Leer s Sub. of the <br />West part of Lot #4 in the partition ion of the estate of Samuel Leer in Section 18 in <br />Township 37 N. R.. 3 East. Same approved by the Board. <br />The following bond and contract was approved by the Board for the <br />installing of radiation and pipe covering the police station. <br />CONTRACT. <br />AGREEMENT between the Board of Public. Worts of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, and Wm. H. Burke of the City of South Bend, Indiana, For.the installing of <br />radiation and pipe covering in the police garage and detective office in the City- Hall <br />as per specifications and according to bid filed September 9th. ,1918 as follows: <br />and made a part of this contract: - <br />Radiation .................................717.00 <br />Pipe covering...: .......................... 89.17 <br />Asbestos: cement:.. . . . . .. . ........... , ....... 21.74 <br />All work to becompleted within five weeks from date of this contract <br />contingent upon conditions beyond our control. <br />WITNESS, our hands and seals this 24th., day of Sept.,1918. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />G. Burke of the County of <br />St. Joseph State of Indiana, as principal and Jno. E. Fisher of the County of St. <br />Joseph and State of Indiana as sureties, are held and firmly bound tto the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, in the sum of One Thousand ($1,000.00)Dollars For the payment <br />of which, well and truly to be made, we jointly and severally bind ourselves, our <br />heirs, executors, adminstrators and assigns , firmly by these presents. <br />The conditions of the obligation are such that if the above named <br />Wm. H. Burke shall faithfully comply with the foregoing contract, .made and entered <br />into the 24th. , day of September 1918 with the City of South Bend, Indiana, and shall <br />fulfill all the a and it ions and at ipul at ions therein c oat aired, according to the true <br />intent and meaning thereof, in all respects, then this obligation .to be void, otherwise <br />to be and remain in full force and virtue in law. In the event the said City shall <br />extend the time for the completion of said work, such extension shall not in any way <br />release the sureties on this bond. <br />This shall be A construction bond, and the sureties on the same <br />shall not be held responsible for the faithful compliance with all other cond it ions <br />stipulations and requirements covered by or set out in the contract. <br />WITNESS our hands and seals this 24th.9 day of Sept.,1918. <br />The above bond approved.this 24th., <br />WU.
