242 <br />Beard met in special session at 9:30 A.U. All members present. <br />W. W. Sibley was cited to appeare` before the Board in regard to <br />condiion of excavation, cut on Riverside Drive opposite 976. Mr. W. W. Sibley <br />was ordered by the Board to fill in the excavation so that the *avement could be <br />replaced and the the pavement to be relaid° in as good condition as pavement was in. <br />It is further ordered that all tunneling be taken tip with the Street Co�iss finer. <br />The. Board ordered the City Engineer to prepare a resolution for <br />a pipe sewer on Columbia Street. <br />-The following report presented by the -City Engineer, read and <br />placed on file., <br />July 17,1918. <br />The Honorable Beard of Public Works, <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: - <br />I beg to report that I have made an inspection of the pavementen <br />Mishawaka Avenue and Eddy Street., since the completion of the work by the White <br />Construction Company., and finds the work taken as a whale is in good cond it ion. <br />There are a few defects appearing in the brick portion of the pavement <br />as the cement grout is being worn off. These can be taken care of immediately or can <br />be subjected to traffic for a year and then repaired under the guarantee, <br />The gutters of the asphalt pavement between 9th.1# and,i0th.,, Streets <br />and the gutter on the northsideof Mishiwaka Avenue between 6th. St. and the alley <br />west of 6th. , St., should, be put In better. c and it ion than they are at the present <br />time. <br />A small amount of the con"stretcher along the rails shows im- <br />perfections and should be'replaeed. This can only be due properly by diverting <br />the street car traffic so as to permit the concrete .to ,net , otherwise it is my <br />opinion that it will be better to leave the present stretcher in. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />FREDERICK J.
