2 1 7. <br />Board met in regular session at 10; 00 A.M. All members present. <br />By unanfimous consent of the Board J. W. Fites DQputy Street Commissioner <br />was allowed $1.25 per day for horse and rig which he now has at municipal barn in use <br />of the Street Repair Dept., also for another horse and rig used by the City he is <br />allowed $1.75 per day and for the use of his automobile . dur ing the time said auto is in <br />use he is allowed $2. 00 per day and if auto is not used the charge per day ceases and the <br />charge for the horse is made at above price $1.75 per day. <br />It was agreed by the Board that the Police Department built entrance <br />to police garage by paving same. That the Board will pay for all material used ..the <br />police department to do paving work and the Street Department to do excavating and <br />hauling of dirt. <br />The Board ordered a notice seat to the Chicago, South Bend & Northern <br />Indiana Railway Company to repair pavement between tracks and on either side of trakke- <br />on East be Salle Avenue between Hill Street and East Race Bridge, also Clerk instructed <br />to notify. above mentioned company to finish repa it ing their pavement on Washington <br />Avenue between Michigan and Lafayette Street, notice sent sometime ago on same. <br />A report from the South Bend Mfg., Company on time for completion of <br />repairs to dam in St. Joseph River was filed.with the Board by Edwin Nicar, President <br />and the same referred to the Water Department of this City. - <br />Petit ion received for an 'electric light at corner of Johnson Street <br />and Rupel Street. Same read and placed on file. <br />Bids for the decorating of the interior of the .City Hall building <br />received read and ordered tabulated to be reported on at regular session Tuesday June 25th. <br />1918 at 10;00 A.M. <br />Bids received from H. L. Loehr Decorating Companym I. W. Lower Dec. <br />Company, Robert Greening and Seifert Brothers. <br />Bids were received opened and read for water connections on <br />Blaine Avenue from Lincoln Way West to Portage Avenue. <br />A.M. <br />Bid of Wm. Burke, <br />-Long side of street, <br />Short side of street, <br />per tap. ............. .... .....$23.85 <br />per tap ............... 18.85 <br />Board ordered bid held up until Tuesday June 25th. ,.1918 at 10: 00 <br />Pole and wire inspector reported as follows on complaints about <br />telephone or electric light poles. <br />In regard to guy wire and pole in alley between Brookfield and Collge <br />Street on Lincoln Way West, this is an Indiana & Michigan Light Co. pole and should be <br />removed entirely, as pole stands in way oft foundation property owner is building. , <br />The Central Union Tel. Company to be notified to remove entirely guy wire. The Board approved <br />of the above recommend. <br />In regard to complaint about guy wire in way of trucks at Van Burne <br />Street and Sancome Avenue. This is an Indiana & Michigan Elec. Co. guywire and should be <br />removed at once. Place a small pole at the west curb and put anchor to the west side <br />of the sidewalk. The Central Union Tel. Company to also aemove guys from this same <br />place. <br />
