Bost ser <br />abserit. ; <br />Dr. Freyermuth , Secretary of the Cit yealth Board appeared before <br />the Board and took up the matter of'a building fAa as City Hospita 1. No <br />action taken on same. <br />r. <br />Contract for water connections on Harvey Street between Aj.11e� St. <br />and Blaine Avenue awarded to John G. Kestler, as per bids received Tues. Uay <br />26th. ,1916i <br />Yr. W. D. Teeple, Assistant Commissioner of Bldgs. met with the Board <br />and' the fallowing order was approved by the Board. <br />It was resolved by the Board of Public'Works that W. D. Teeple <br />Assistant Commissioner of Buildings in this City, be and is hereby authorized <br />by this Board to take charge of the4Building department temporakily until the <br />filling of the vamancy of the Commtiss ionership, due to the res ignat ion of Mr. CL. <br />A. Perkins. Mr. W. D. Teeple to receive all moneys belong to this department <br />and all fees to be paid ®this department during his temporary arrangements <br />Also action, elative to the sign, ordinance on signs already up - but to enforce the installati",.. of all new signs in conformity with the bode in � <br />all particulars. Teepleg by letter, <br />The City Civil Et g ineer filed the following report. <br />May 318t.,1918. <br />Board of Public Works, <br />South Bend, Indiana, <br />Gentlemen: - <br />In eegard to the attadhed petition for s pavement on Kline Street from <br />Lincoln Way East to Calvert St. and on Calvert Street from Kline Street to Leer <br />Street, I wish to report that the assessed valuation, of the property on these <br />streets &a so love that we cannot'legally go ahead with these improvements unlos& <br />at least eight per cent of the freeholders petition for the improvements. <br />There ape about thirty seven freeholders interested in these improve- <br />ments, and only twenty-one names on the petition, some of whom are not freeholders <br />Under •the conditions which exist, I have deferred preparing the resolu- <br />tion Ordered by the Board in order to find out if they still wish to go ahead <br />with the proceedings. <br />.
