<br />Hearing ,had on improvement .resolution No. 566 for the Grade, curb
<br />and walk-on Ernsperger-Street . from Lincoln tray East to the Bridge over the St. Joseph
<br />R iver, it the C ity of S outh Bend, Ind iana.
<br />Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no written resmn--
<br />strance .44s filed. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, ,dec ides that the
<br />benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the ;esti-
<br />mated cost of the same, as .reported by the City C iv it Eng inee;, and thereupon takes.
<br />final action on said resolution as or ig inally adopted, and the same is hereby in all
<br />things ra t if ie d , confirmed and .approved .
<br />Resolved further, that notices be published on the 21st., day
<br />of March 19i8 :and on the 28th. , day of Uarch* 1918 in .a newspaper of general circulation
<br />in said City, s tat ing that this Board will receive bids for the construct ion of said
<br />impr ove m.ents =up to 10:. 00 A.U. on the 9th. , day of April 1918. The Board 'reserves the

<br />v It was unaulmoualy decided by the Board that an advertisement
<br />be inserted 'in the local papers as required by law, advertising for bids on different
<br />types of rollers, the same to be as per spec if icat ions to be submitted by the City
<br />C iv it Engineer. `
<br />The following resolution was adopted by the Board.
<br />LIZ RES OLUT ION FOR SERVICE CONNECTIONS WITH MAINS
<br />N0. 91:2. S%
<br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works on the 5th., day of February 1918
<br />did adopt a resolution order img and `requiring th& permanent improvement of Blaine Avenue
<br />from Li Porte Avenue to Lincoln Wi:y West- Street, by paving the roadway of the same, and
<br />WHEREAS, the City Civil Engineer has prepared and f ildd in the Office
<br />of this Board a report showing the n#mber and location of the service pipes, mains,
<br />conduits, literals,, -and connections ghich are, or will be necessary to accommodate the.
<br />abutting property and the owners thereof -Frith gas, water, sewer and ether conveniences
<br />and necessaries; and also said City Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in said office
<br />apec'ifications showing the material to, be used and the manner of -laying said service pipe,
<br />meind conduits, laterals and connections from the mains to the points .inside of then
<br />curb lines.
<br />_ THEREFORE, be 1t resolved by the Board of Pubic Works of the City
<br />of South mend, Indiana, that the report of the City Civil Engineer is adopted, and said
<br />report and. -the specifications prepared and filed by him are made a part of this resolu-
<br />tion as fully and effectually as if copied herein at full length and it is further
<br />ordered that all of such private connections with the ,sewer, gas and water mains, be made
<br />in said street by bringing them inside the curb lines thereof.
<br />And be It Further resolved that notice by publication for two
<br />successive days in the South Bend Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation printed
<br />and pub 1 ished in the City of South Bead, Indiana, be given to the owkiers of the property
<br />abutting upon said street to be improved directing them to make such sewer and water con
<br />nett ions on or before the llth. , day of April 1918 and that if said - cnnect ions are net
<br />made on or before said time and in ace: ordance with the specifications and report on file
<br />in the office of the Board. of Public Works, then -said Beard- Ill cause the same to be made
<br />and will assess the cost thereof against the property abutting upon said street, and
<br />shall do all other things pertaining thereto according to the prov is ions and requirements
<br />of Ordinance No. 1842 adopted by the Common Counc ,.1 of the City of South Bend on July 24th. ,
<br />1916, and of all ordinances and laws, relat ing ..thereto. -
<br />And, be it further resolved and ordered that :after the 20 day period has
<br />elapsed for the making of said connections by the property owners , a notice; shall be
<br />pubii had for two weeks, once each yeek, in the South Bend Tribune, ai- newspaper ff General
<br />circulation published in said City, regVesting bids from the contractors for the making
<br />of such connections as have not been made by the property owners, and such notice shall
<br />fix a day, not earlier than ten days after the. first of. such publications, when bids shall
<br />be opened and a contract let for the doing of said work.
