rehabilitation programs available, and referred to a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) <br />for assessment. <br />J. Compliance with the Treatment Program Requirements <br />Employees are encouraged to make use of the available resources for treatment of <br />alcohol misuse and/or illegal drug use problems. Under certain circumstances, <br />employees may be required to undergo treatment for substance abuse or alcohol misuse.. <br />Any employee of Peerless -Midwest Inc. who refuses or fails to comply with a SAP's <br />requirements for treatment, after care or return -to -duty shall be subject to termination. <br />The cost of treatment will be paid by the employee or their insurance provider. <br />K. Types of Testing <br />Pre -Employment Testing <br />Any individual that seeks employment with or transfers into a DOT safety -sensitive <br />Position will be required to take and pass a urine drug test. The receipt of a negative <br />urine drug test is required. If the results of the urine drug test are negative -diluted, the <br />result will be considered negative. If the test was cancelled, Peerless -Midwest, Inc. <br />requires the applicant to take and pass a second urine drug test. <br />Anytime an employee of Peerless -Midwest, Inc. is off work for 30 consecutive days or <br />more, the employee will be required to take and pass another pre -employment urine drug <br />test. <br />Reasonable Cause Testing <br />Reasonable Cause referral testing will be made on the basis of documented objective <br />facts and circumstances, which are consistent with the short-term effects of substance <br />abuse. <br />At least one supervisor that has been trained in Reasonable Cause detection is needed <br />to make a Reasonable Cause referral for testing. The training must include ways to <br />determine the signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol use. The supervisor must <br />conclude that the employee is impaired in his/her work performance. Documentation as <br />to the physical appearance, behavioral and performance indicators, speck and body <br />odors of the employee must be completed prior to the test result being received. <br />Examples of Reasonable Cause include, but are not limited to, the following: <br />Physical signs and symptoms consistent with prohibited substance use or alcohol <br />misuse. <br />Evidence of the manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession, or use of controlled <br />substances, drugs, alcohol, or other prohibited substances. <br />E✓ <br />
