No. action taken. <br />Mr. Ed. Joyce appeared before tho- Board in regard to petition filed fa <br />for pipe sewer on St. Vincent Street between Eddy Street and Notre Dame Avenue. <br />The Board adopted resolution on same and ordered set for hearing. <br />The following report was filed by the City Engineer: <br />March 13,1918. <br />Board of Public Works, <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen:- In regard to the petition for pipe sewer on St. Vincent Street from <br />Eddy Street to Notre Dame Avenue, I_ wish to report that I have made an investi- <br />aa,t ion of conditions in the streets and recommend that the petition be granted. The <br />petitioners are the only resident property owner's: on the street and etch has a new <br />house costing over five thousand dollars, and at the present time are using <br />cesspools. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />FREDERICK, J. This is with the understanding <br />thaat.the quantity of •cock called for in the order shall not be increased more <br />than 20%, except by mutual agreement later, though you may be assured that we will <br />have ,pleasure , in masking any desired increase without change of price, if the <br />change in valasemeaanwhile is not too great; The Board awarded the contract the <br />lumber to.the John I. Shafer Hardwood Co. on the above bid. <br />. It was resolved by the Board that bids be advertised for the <br />.-grade zitd curb and walk improvement on Lincoln Way West from Oliver Street to <br />Fremont Street, same to be advertised for on the 2b*h.,,day of March 1918 and <br />on the 28th., day of March 1918 in the South Bend Daily..Tribune, stating time <br />f or , rece iv ing b ids .. be April Mhi,,1918 at 10: 00 A.M.
