10 0- <br />Bard met its regular session at 10:00 A.M. All members present. <br />Dr. E G. 'Freyermuth, Secy. of Health Board appeared before the <br />Board and presented communication from the. Hinkle Motor Car Company stating price of <br />new machine and repairs for old machines in the Health Dept., and requested that the <br />`$oard give same their consideration. The Board instructed clerk to return said <br />communication and inform the Health Board that they had no jurisdiction over the <br />Health Dep:artments'.;machines. <br />v u In the matter of the deferred hearing on assessment Poll and final <br />estimate for grading of -Portage Avenue from Keller Street to the North City Limits, <br />under Improvement Resolution No. 536. In the City of South. Bend, Indiana, ,same being <br />held over until this date by the Board for their consideration, find that no femora*v <br />strat:ora appeared and no written remonstrance was filed, and the Board therefore find <br />that_ the ` property assessed in said roll& filed January 22nd. ,1918 Is: benef itted in the <br />amount of assessments as shown on said roil, and the Board further find that the <br />assessment roll filed January 22nd.,1918 and the final estimate allowed January 22nd. <br />1918 should be and the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved, <br />and the Board ordered that the City Controller be notified to withhold from funds <br />owing H. N. Barnes, Contractor on above improvement, the sum of Eight Hundred ($800.00) <br />until further notice from ;the Board. <br />Mr. H. N. Barnes and 14r. Goo. Harrop met with the Board and the <br />matter of putting Portage Avenue in a, passable condition after improvements were put <br />in was discussed, Mr. Harrop informed the Board that he had let a contract to H. N. <br />Barnes for the final grade on Portage Avenue, after he had trunk sewer put in. <br />v Mr. B. C. Stephenson met with the Board in regard to statement <br />sent to him by the Electricial department, and explained to the Board the arrangements <br />his company had with the City previous as to fees for electricial Hiring. The Board <br />decided that in as much As the Stooks enn Mfg. Company had an understanding with the <br />previous administration in regard to fees for electricial wiring that had been done <br />in their factory, that this Board would omit penalities, if Mr. Stephenson would pay oh <br />other fees. The City Electrician also ordered to send a corrected statement to Mr. <br />Stephenson. <br />Partial estimate allowed L. H.
