South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting —June 14, 2012 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />B. Airport Economic Development Area <br />(7) continued... <br />Works and the Michiana Lutheran Education <br />Association (MLEA) for the acquisition of <br />right -of -way at the southeast corner of Nimtz <br />and Olive. The improvements contemplated <br />by the work need to be done during the <br />summer so as not to disrupt educational <br />activities during the school year. <br />Mr. Schalliol noted that Supplement #2 <br />approved a budget for the construction work. <br />Based on a December 2011 engineer's <br />estimate, the scope of work was projected to <br />cost $109,975. Based on the engineer's <br />estimate, staff requested a budget amount of <br />$125,000 in Exhibit C. <br />The purpose of Supplement #4 is to adjust <br />the budget based on a revised engineer's <br />estimate and on bids received for the project <br />at the June 12 Board of Public Works <br />meeting. The estimate was $127,500. On <br />June 12, the Board of Public Works received <br />and opened 7 bids ranging from $128,890.28 <br />to $212,432.80. The Lowest Responsive/ <br />Responsible Bidder was John Boettcher <br />Sewer & Excavating in the amount of <br />$128,890. Staff requests approval of a <br />revised budget of $142,000, the project <br />amount plus 10% contingency for change <br />orders. <br />Mr. Varner asked if this pertained only to the <br />right -of -way, not additional land being <br />purchased. Mr. Schalliol responded that <br />approval of Resolution No. 3047 will allow <br />the city to meet all its requirements in the <br />14 <br />
