O'Brien Fitness Center, Pinhook Pavilion, Rum Village Nature Center, and numerous <br /> parkland areas). <br /> • PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITIES (Central Fire Station and Stations 1 through 11, Fire Training <br /> Center, Police Department building). <br /> A summary of those findings from 2015 indicating ADA barriers within existing City <br /> buildings and facilities is attached as Attachment#3, and the completed self-evaluation form for <br /> each building or facility can be inspected in the City's Department of Public Works, 13th Floor, <br /> County-City Building, 227 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana. <br /> The ADA Barriers identified in Attachment 3 are based upon four priorities for accessible <br /> buildings, facilities, services and programs, under the relevant sections of the ADA, as follows: <br /> Priority 1: Accessible approach and entrance <br /> Priority 2: Access to goods and services <br /> Priority 3: Access to rest rooms <br /> Priority 4: Any other measures necessary <br /> CAVEAT: The Findings in Attachment 3 may have been accurate at the time the individual <br /> assessments were performed at various dates in 2015. Remediation and changes have occurred <br /> since then. Therefore, no specific finding in Attachment 3 can be deemed an accurate <br /> description of conditions existing at a specific site at the time of this report in 2018. <br /> PRIORITIZATION IN REMOVING BARRIERS TO ACCESSIBILITY IN EXISTING BUILDINGS <br /> AND FACILITIES <br /> Removal of barriers to accessibility in City buildings and service/program/activities <br /> facilities will be prioritized on the basis of specific criteria listed below. Each listed factor is of <br /> equal importance with no single factor having more importance than another. In determining the <br /> order for removing accessibility barriers among City buildings or facilities, a building or facility <br /> having a higher number of applicable criteria will take priority over another building or facility <br /> with fewer applicable criteria. The criteria are as follows: <br /> — Level of use—the extent or frequency of public use of the building or facility <br /> — Social need—use of buildings or facilities for important social or emergency needs, such <br /> as senior centers, cooling centers, storm shelters, education program centers, etc. <br /> — Public Rights—buildings or facilities where citizens exercise their rights such as voting <br /> centers, courthouses, public meeting centers <br /> Page 16 <br />
