<br />LOCAL SEWER WROVE11ENT RESOLUTION NO,* 547.
<br />Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, County
<br />of St. Joseh, State of Indiana, That the construction of a local sewer, intended and
<br />adapted for local use by the pro erty holders w#ase property ibuts thereon, and not
<br />v intended or adapted bor receiving sewerage From collateral drains,be and the same is
<br />hereby ordered in and along Pleasant Street from Ninth Street to Eighth Street as
<br />f ollows, to -wit:
<br />Beginning, at the intersection of the center line of Pleasant Street
<br />to a point 20 f -et east df the east line of Eighth Street with a 12 inch vitrified
<br />pipe sewer. Together with the necessary manholes, inlets, conduits and house con-
<br />nections.to the curb line along the line of said .improvement,.all as is more particularly
<br />•shown, and all in accordance with the plans, profiles, detail drawings and specifications
<br />on file in the Office of the office of the Department of Public Works of the City of
<br />.South Bend, Indiana, and said sewer, with all ihs appurtenances shall be constructed in
<br />accordance with the profile and specifications now on file in the office of the Department
<br />of Public Works of said City., The cost of said improvement shall be apportioned against
<br />and paid by the property holders those property abuts thereon, and upon the City of
<br />South Bend if the City is benefitted by said improvement, all according to the method
<br />and amnner provided for in Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled
<br />" An Act Concerning Muunic ip 1 Corporations," approved Uarch 6,1905. Assessments, if
<br />deferred,, are to be paid in ten equall annual installments with interest at the rate of
<br />Six per cent per annum, A bond or bonds shall be issued to the contractor in payment for
<br />such work, unless the property owners pay said assessments before said bond or bonds
<br />are issued . Under no circumstances shall the City of South Bend be or be held-
<br />responsible for ny sum or sums due from said property owner or woners for said work,
<br />or for the collection of same, or for thepayment of any bond or bonds, certificate
<br />or certificates, issued to said contractor in payment for such work, except for such
<br />moneys as shall have been actually received by the City from the assessments for such
<br />improvement, or such moneys as said City is by said above entitled Act reuired to pay.
<br />All proceedings had, and work done in the making of said City is by said above entitled
<br />Act required to pay. All proceedings had, and work done in the making of said improve-
<br />ment, assessment of property, collections of assessments and issuance of bonds therefore
<br />shall be as provided for in said above entitled Act.
<br />Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 12th. day of July 1917
<br />and on the 19th. day of July 1917 in the South Bend Daily Tribune. This Board will give
<br />a hearing un this resolution at its office in the City Hall on the 24th. day of July
<br />1917 at 7:45 P.M.

<br />RESOLUTION FOR SERVICE CONNECTIONS
<br />WITH MAINS NO. 548.
<br />WHEREAS , the Board of Public Works on the loth, day of July 191-7
<br />did adopt a resolution ordering and repairing ,the permanent improvement of Howard
<br />Street from Niles Avenue to Notre Dame Avenue, -by paving hhe roadway of the same, and
<br />WHEREAS, the City Civil Engineer has prepare add filed in the office
<br />of this Board a report showing the number and -location of the service pipes, mains,
<br />conduits, laterals and connections which are, or will be necessary to accommodate
<br />the abutting property and the owners thereof with gas, water, sewer, andother con-
<br />veniences and necessaries; and also said City -Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in
<br />said office specifications showing the material to be used and the manner of laying said
<br />service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals and connections from the mains to the points insid
<br />of the curb l ines.
<br />THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of
<br />South Bend, Indiana, that the report of the City Civil Engineer is adopted, and said
<br />report and the specifications prepared and filed by him are made a part of this rezolu
<br />tion as fully and effectually as if copied herein at full length; and it is further
<br />ordered that =11 of such private conne ations with the sewer; gas and water mains,. be made
<br />in said street by bringing them inside the curb lines thereof.
