Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.M. Mr. E. M. Morris absent. <br />Mr. A. H. Rice -act4g President. <br />The Board ordered an extension off of the Home Telephone company <br />now located in the Central Pumping station., into, the City Crematory building. <br />Thee -Clark instructed to notify the South Bend. 'Home Welephone Company of such <br />ekt ens ion, <br />Property orders appeared, before the Board in regard to an extension <br />of Chestnut Street pip6 sower,from Napier Stereet to the New York Central:Ry. <br />Co. right of way. Resolution adopted for same. <br />Mr. G. -R. Summers with Mr. Max Adler appeared before the Board and <br />requested that some lights be placed on E. Washington Avenue from Michigan Street <br />Ao Lincoln Way East. The Board took said matter under advisement. <br />Mr. F. I. Hardy, Mgr. of the Chicago, South Bend & Northern Indiana <br />Ry. Company appeared before the B@ard� in regard to resurfacing of Jefferson Blvd., <br />✓ bridge. <br />Mr. F.--I. Hasty submitted the following verbal proposition to the <br />Board. That he would agreed to repair with Tarvia that part of Jefferson Blvd. <br />from the east end- of' Bridge to iAters,ection of Lincoln Way East for the sum of <br />/ Two hundred ($200,00)Dollare andkeep same in repair. Board took trip of over <br />d streets in Mishawaka and this City with Mr. Hardy to investigate same klnd of work. <br />The following cotnmun.iom-tior wr.g received read and placed on file, <br />and - eomanYcat ion ordered sent to 8'. J. Andersen 'with- instruct ions. <br />June 26#1917. <br />The Honorable Board of Public Works, <br />South Bend, Indiana, <br />tsar Sirs:- Mr. <br />irs:- <br />Mr. Heber Harter in constructing the pavements in Harter Heights is not <br />raising the pavements at the street intersections at the crosswalks, but is running <br />the gutter straight through. <br />This is a type of construction different from that in general use in the <br />City, and I would like to have the opinion of the Board in regard to _the matter <br />If they do not approve of the type of construction being used, it should be changed <br />before the work had gone too far, and so cause a great deal of expense in. making . <br />the necessary changes. <br />Yours very truly, <br />FREDERICK J. It is the orders of the Board -of Public Works, that you <br />have this pavement laid the same as in other places in the City, making a raise <br />in the pavements at the street and alley intersections, so that the pavement be on <br />the level with the sidewalks. ' <br />VERY TRULY, <br />BY ORDER OF THE BOARD <br />Mr. Geo. M. Urey, City Cemetery Sexton appeared before the Board and <br />Lookup matter of a raise in price for digging graves. Same was not granted. <br />The City Civil Engineer F. J. Anderson took up the matter with the <br />Beard of whether or not the City should inspect pavement* materials in Harter <br />Heights. The Engineer was instructed to have I. Van Trump inspector on gather <br />asphalt pavements in the City inspect pavement materials in Harter Heights. <br />
