Brady Construction Company with Attorney <br />Towne:ley appeared before the Board in regard to contract for, pavement on Eddy <br />Street and Mishawaka Avenue from Jefferson Blvd. to Nineteenth Street. Attorney <br />M. U. Towneley stated that Mr. Brady feels that he would have to do this work at <br />a loss and he'feels that this contract should be set aside.and the matter let come t <br />to a new letting. Property owners residing on Mishawaka Avenue and Eddy Street <br />with their attorney L,. H. Hammond of Lambert and Hammond appeared before the Board <br />and the matter of contractor wanting to give up contract or. Eddy Street and Mishawak <br />Avenue pavement was discussed., The Board after due consideration decided to defer <br />this matter°until Wednesday June 27th.,1917 at 10:00 A.M. This was done to give <br />the property owners attorney, fir. L. H. Hammond more chance to look over pro- <br />ceedings in regard to said contract above mentioned. <br />Permission granted the Indiana & Michigan Elec Co mpany to reset <br />a line of poles on Portage Avenue between Kinyon Street and River View Cemetery <br />jointly with the Central Union Telephone Company. <br />The following communication received read add this work to be done <br />under the City Eng ineer ' s instructions and specifications, <br />South Bend, Ind. June 19,1917. <br />Beard of Public Works, <br />. South Bend, Ind. <br />Gent1omen: <br />Since we as Mr. H. B. Whites Agents are entemplating the laying of <br />sidewalks and curb stones on Bowman , Donald, Fox and Leer Streets where out <br />property faces such streets, we respectfully request your authorization for these <br />V improvements at the street intersections. <br />We have let contracts at exceptionally low prices on this work, and <br />trust that you will take advantage of same. <br />Kindly advise us if You wish, the contractor to keep a record of these <br />intersections, dr if you wish , to take the City : Eng ineer ' s figures, when submitting <br />a bill to you for this work. <br />Thanking you for past courtesies and trusting that you will give this <br />matter due attention, we are, ° <br />Very truly yours, <br />R.J.
