All members present.. <br />Councilman Seifert appeared before the Board in regard to petitions <br />on file for water mains on Eighteenth Street River Park, also water mains <br />on north St. Peter Street, north from South Bend Avenue, This matter was referred <br />to the Water Dent., <br />Engineer filed assessment for pipe sewers on Rush, Fellows,Milt.on, <br />Columbia, Carroll and St. Joseph Streets and Benton Court from Calvert Street <br />to St. Joseph Street, under Improvement ResolutIon No. 464. In the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments as required <br />by statute, be published on the 15th. day of June 1917 and or, the 22nd. day. of <br />June 1917 in the South Bend Daily Tribune, st ating that thisBoard will give a <br />hearing on the amount of such assessments at its office in the City Hall on the <br />26th. day of .June 1917 at 7:.45 P.M. <br />Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contracts <br />be accepted and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. The Board rordered om Jay Sthat tsaid to Ehearing wing ebeedeferred until <br />, In the City �f <br />South Bend, <br />Tuesday June 19th.91917 at 7:45 P.M. <br />STREET OR ALLEY IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 529. <br />Be It Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South <br />Bend, St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, that it is desired and deemed nec- <br />essary to improve Mimi Street from the north line of Fox Street to the north <br />line of Ewing Avenue as follows, -to; wit: -M <br />Said street shall be graded, and the <br />roadway thereof shall be paved; and also the roadway of certain portions of the <br />streets and alleys which enter.or intersect said street shall be graded and <br />paved. The paving material to be used in making said improvement shall be sheet <br />asphalt, Biulithic, Asphaltic Concrete or Bricks and the foundation shall be <br />portland cement concrete five (5) inches thick for sheet asphalt, bitulithic, <br />asphaltic concrete and brick or rolled gravel six (6) inches thick fiRr brick; <br />also cement curb shall be constructed along said street where same is not already <br />constructed; storm water inlets and conduits shall be constructed where necessary <br />all manhole covers and inlets shall be set to the proper grade acid cement <br />marginal curb shall be constructed at all streets and alleys where necessary; all <br />manholes covers and inlets shall be set to the proper grade and cement marginal <br />curb shall be constructed at all streets and alleys where necessary; all as is <br />more particularly shown, and all in accordance with the profiles, plans, detail <br />drawings and specifications on file in the Office of the Board of Public Works <br />of said City. <br />The cost of the improvement herein provided for, except street and. <br />alley intersections, shall be paid by special assessment to be levied upon the <br />property specially benefitted, to the amount that the same may be 1egally assessed <br />therefor, in accordance with an Act of the General Assembly of the State of <br />Indiana, entitled " An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations, " approved March <br />6,1905, and in accordance With and pursuant to the provisions of all acts <br />amendatory and supplemental thereto-. <br />The cosy of street and alley intersections, including one-half of <br />the width of the improvement opposite street and alleys -which run into, but do <br />not cross said roadway herein proposed to be improved and that portion of such <br />street or alley abutting upon property belonging to said City or upon property <br />not subject to such assessment, shall be paid by the City in cash out of its <br />gerere.1 fund, if able to do so, or from a fund created by a special assessment <br />to be levied under the provisions of Se ction 108 of the above entitled Act. <br />
