' <br />General Plan, scale 1" equals 20t showing present general <br />c and it ions between Chapin St.',, an the west and Michigan St., <br />on the east, plan dated May 21,1917, marked "Exhibit K." <br />The work covered - by these plats is as falbows: <br />Raise the tracks of the New York Central RailRoad Company beginning <br />- on the west at Station 4495 X 14 thence ascending easterly on a .35% grade to <br />station 4510, thence continuing easterly on a .45% grade to station 4533•X,. thence on <br />a 1.069% grade to.station 4560, thence.deseending to the east on a .4% grade inter - <br />seating the present grade of the tracks at about station 4594. The grade inter- <br />section -being connected by suitable vertical curves as shown. The above grade line <br />as adopted will necessitate raising the .tracks of the Chicago & Grand Trunk Ry., <br />° at their intersection with those of the New York Central a height of 5�f <br />The streets at which grades are to be separated are Chapin St., <br />Scott Street., Prairie Avenue., Lafayette St., fain St , and Michigan and Bronson <br />Sts., In addition to the subways to be constructed it will be necessary to raise <br />thepo int of intersection of the tracks and the roadways at the following named <br />grade crossings: ' <br />Cherry, Division, Arnold, Fellows, Sample, Rush, Ohio, Marietta and <br />High. <br />The Grade Separation Work is to be done in accordance with modified <br />Resolution # 2. passed by the Board of Public Works of South Bend, Indiana, November <br />27th., 1916, which resolution provides as follows: <br />At the intersection of Chapin Street and the tracks of said Railroad <br />the surface of said street shall be depressed seven (7) feet two (2) inches below <br />the top of the highest rail of the tracks at said intersection as now maintained; <br />clearance shall be fifteen (15) feet two (2) inches between the surface of the street <br />as fixed above and the superstructure over said street; the grade of said street under <br />the superstructure, and for twenty-seven and one-half (27-) feet east side thereof - <br />shall be level; the grade of the approach of said street north shall be an ascending <br />grade of two and one-half (2�) feet to each one hundred (100) feet beginning at is <br />point twenty --seven and one-half (27�) feet north of the north line of the super- <br />structure until it intersects the present street grade; and on the south the grade <br />shall b an ascending grade of two and one-half (22-) feet to each one hundred (100) <br />feet beginning 27� feet south of the south line of the superstrucuure until it inter- <br />sects the present grade. <br />At the intersection of Scott Street and the tracks of said Railroad <br />the surface of said street shall be depressed three (31 feet below the top of .the <br />highest rail of the tracks at said intersection as now maintained; clearance shall' <br />be twelve` end one half (12L-) feet between the surface of the street as fixed above <br />and the superstructure over said street; the grade of the approach of said street <br />north from the north line of the superstructure shall be a straight line until <br />it intersects the present grade on Scott Street at the south line of Dunn Street, <br />and the grade of the approach from the south line of the superstructure shall be <br />a straight line until it intersects the present grade of Scot Street at the north <br />line of Ford Street. <br />
