Lateral Rehab Committee <br />Dean Monk, Chair Person <br />The committee published three articles in Trenchless <br />Technology Magazine this year with the draft of the <br />fourth finalized in October. <br />We've also had several conference calls to discuss <br />not only articles, but updates to the Lateral Overview <br />document. We still need updated photos, so if you <br />have any, please forward them to administrator@ <br />nassco.org. <br />Industry Standards Committee <br />Marilyn Shepard, Chair Person <br />Sub -Committees were formed to address the two <br />specifications that the committee was tasked with <br />completeing this year; the CCTV Spec and the <br />Cleaning Spec. Both specifications have been <br />compiled and are being reviewed. They should be <br />ready for a full committee review in Janary 2015 for <br />release to the industry shortly after. <br />The next task to be completed is a Cleaning <br />Specification for Large Diameter Pipe. if you would <br />like to help with this initiative or help with the <br />review of the final Cleaning and CCTV specifications <br />mentioned above, please contact the NASSCO Office. <br />Annual Confeente Committee <br />Kay Doherty, Co -Chair Person <br />The 39th Annual Conference will be held in Savannah, <br />GA, February 11-13, 2015. For more details, see page <br />one. <br />Scholarships and Awards Committee <br />Brad Dutruch, Chair Person <br />NASSCO has three scholarships available to those in the <br />industry or showing interest in joining the industry. They <br />include : <br />• Jeffrey D. Ralston Scholarship: $2,000 scholarship is <br />awarded based on certain criteria including seeking a <br />career in the sewer service industry. <br />• PACP Scholarship: A free registration to a PACP <br />class ($750 value) is awarded based on merit. <br />• David Magill Scholarship: $5,000 will be given to <br />a VA Tech Student studying Wastewater /Trenchlees <br />Technology and will be chosen by the University. <br />David Magill was an Alumi of VA Tech and was a <br />staunch supporter of both the University and NASSCO. <br />Additional information can be found on nassco.org under <br />Member Services. <br />Thank you to all our sponsors! <br />Health & Safety Committee <br />Ted DeBoda, on behalf of Steve Henning, Chair Person <br />A track at the 2015 Annual Conference's Technical <br />Day will focus on safety including a presentation <br />from Drake Health & Safety Academy. <br />Government Relations Committee <br />Jon Sickels, Chair Person <br />There are three items to discuss as they pertain to our <br />industry: <br />• Water Resources Reform and Development Act <br />(WRRDA): This act streamlines permitting for <br />US Army Corp of Engineers port and maritime <br />infrastructure projects by setting cost and time <br />deadlines for studies and streamlining the <br />environmental review. <br />• Water Infrastructure Finance & Innovation <br />Authority (WIFIA): This provision would <br />establish a five-year WIFIA pilot program for low <br />interest loan programs administered by the EPA to <br />fund water and wastewater related infrastructure <br />projects. <br />• New Legislation: Clean Water Affordability Act: <br />This would authorize $1.8 billion in grants to help <br />communities tackle combined sewer and separate <br />sanitary sewer overflows over the next five years. <br />Software Vendor Committee <br />Mike Russin, Chair Person <br />The software committee should be recieving <br />the PACP 7.0 update files for their own review <br />in December 2014.
