The project involved the rehabilitation of an <br />existing two-lane bridge from Pendleton Pike to 43rd <br />Street inIndianapolis and the addition ofanew two-lane <br />bridge with four -lane road reconstruction. The bridge <br />rehabilitation included replacing the existing bridge deck <br />and concrete |-Beams.driving new H-pi|es.and placing <br />new footings, bents. concrete |-Beams, and concrete <br />bridge deck with sidewalks and railing. Additionally, the <br />project involved approach reconstruction for5hade|and <br />Avenue beginning 700 feet south of the bridge and <br />extending 600 feet north of the bridge. The typical <br />proposed roadway consisted of two 12-foot travel lanes <br />in each direction separated by concrete median. Four - <br />foot sidewalks were constructed oneach side ofthe road. <br />Chris Miller has 23 years <br />experience in providing <br />construction inspection services <br />for a wide array of projects. Construction Project <br />Manager. Emerson Avenue rehabilitated one and a <br />half miles of concrete pavement and incorporated an <br />updated streetscaVe design with signal improvements. <br />The project was in collaboration with Community <br />Hospita|, the city of Indianapolis, |NDOT and the <br />historical neighborhoods ufOtterbein. Little Flower, and <br />Community Heights. Additional roadway improvements <br />included three intersection enhancements and signal <br />upgrades. Architectural features involved the placement <br />mfdecorative brick pavers atall ADAramps and crossings <br />and the placement of decorative thermo inlays for all <br />crosswalks.
