The
purpose of the soil boring study is
in respect to AEP Indiana
Michigan Power's Central South
Bend Reliability Project, one of
six projects from Powering Up
Greater South Bend Program.
The concept is to strengthen the
local transmission grid by
upgrading two aging substations
and constructing an underground
Location/Description
The stretch of Elwood Avenue
being accessed is from Medora 10 r1of ge a1'h-,P(, WrPn ah r rva a rs.q,,andiaa, .use a lr>s .
a",wda~r° J." a'a-rr arau
Avenue to Anderson Avenue. The boring is identified in Figure 1. Also, identified in the figure
are water main and sewer structures that may be impacted by boring in this area. Utilities other
than the identified water main, sewer, or AEP existing lines shall be identified by AEP I & M. If
the soil boring location is in the pavement of the street and not to the side, the combined sewer
and water main running the center of this stretch of Elwood Avenue will need to be addressed.
Considerations
Although, locational awareness of utilities is the focus of the soil borings, transportation will be
impacted. At Soil Boring Location 1, SB1, all or a portion of equipment will need to be parked
within the street, causing an interruption to through traffic. The access permit form gives AEP
the right to trim or cut vegetation if necessary for survey purposes. The vegetation to be
impacted at S131 is grass. This will need to be replaced when boring is finished.
We deliver services that empower everyone to thrive!!
