RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />AWARDING JOHN SELLERS WITH THE <br />MAY 2012 SOUTH BEND CITIZEN AWARD" <br />6Aa the South Bend Common Council notes that many residents of the City of South <br />Bend contribute to the vibrancy and vitality of our entire community; and <br />6)6" the Common Council is proud to recognize that JOHN SELLERS grew up on <br />Forest Avenue; now lives on Blaine in the 1St District, and has been involved with the Near <br />Northwest Neighborhood (NNN) for many years; and <br />CA" JOHN SELLERS is an integral member of the NNN Environmental Committee <br />which "promotes environmental and sustainable living practices by exploring ways to improve the <br />`look and feel' of the neighborhood by fostering positive relationships" with South Bend City <br />Departments; works to improve access to services by addressing "quality of life issues "; helps with <br />the semi - annual "plant swaps "; and actively works to build strong relationships with neighbors who <br />are "interested in positively impacting the Near Northwest Neighborhood "; and <br />6*9 JOHN SELLERS is an Adopt -a Block Captain; a previous participant of the <br />Marketing Committee that recently upgraded the NNN website; helped with the "Neighborhood <br />Green Spaces" program which oversees three (3) areas, namely: Diamond Avenue Garden located <br />at the corners of Diamond, Humboldt and Cleveland; a second garden at the corner of Lamonte <br />Terrace and Lafayette Boulevard which incorporates a winding brick path leading to Leeper Park; <br />and personally oversees maintenance at the Triangle Garden located at the corners of Portage <br />Avenue, Vassar Street and Sherman Avenue; and John is the primary volunteer coordinator who <br />directs the organizations garden- oriented youth service projects throughout the Near Northwest. <br />Qf) JOHN SELLERS is an ideal model of citizen involvement. <br />P-41—, cT,( g� , & st d, 6y d. On behalf of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common <br />Council is pleased to publicly present to JOHN SELLERS with the "May 2012 SOUTH BEND <br />CITIZEN AWARD ". <br />Section II. The Common Council thanks JOHN SELLERS for volunteering countless <br />hours throughout the Near Northwest Neighborhood which is resulting in many positive <br />improvements to this vital part of the South Bend community.
