COUNCIL RULES MAY 14, 2012 <br />3:57 P.M. <br />Committee Members Present: <br />Derek Dieter, Dr. Fred Ferlic, Dr. David Varner, Karen White <br />Other Councilmember's Present: <br />Tim Scott, Henry Davis, Valerie Schey, Oliver Davis, Gavin Ferlic <br />Other's Present: <br />Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Kevin Allen, Kathy Cekanski - Farrand <br />Agenda: Bill No. 14 -12 — Procedure for Citizen Appointments <br />Bill No. 14 -12 is designed to enhance communication between the Council and citizen <br />appointments they have made to various boards and commissions. In addition to <br />formalizing the appointment process itself, the bill requires that appointees file quarterly <br />reports to the Council on items important to the City. <br />Oliver Davis, the bills, primary sponsor, spoke briefly about the Council's need to be <br />informed. Karen White said the bill should enhance communication. Henry Davis, a co- <br />sponsor, suggested a form or process of removal of appointees needs to be prescribed. <br />Derek Dieter said he would instruct the council attorney to address that process. <br />David Varner motioned forwarding favorably. Karen White offered a second and it was <br />supported by all. <br />Under miscellaneous, Henry Davis reported that the Redevelopment Commission voted <br />to change the Tuesday meetings time from the afternoon to 9:30 in the morning. He said <br />he and Dr. Varner voted against the change feeling it made public participation more <br />difficult. President Dieter said he would have a letter expressing that opinion sent to the <br />Commission. <br />There being no further business to come before the committee at this time, Chairperson <br />Derek Dieter adjourned the meeting at 4:10 p.m. <br />espec lly Su fitted, <br />Derek D.
