INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY <br />APRIL 23, 2012 <br />Committee Members Present: <br />Citizen Member: Vacant <br />Other Council Members Present: <br />David Varner, Chairperson; Henry Davis, <br />Valerie Schey, Tim Scott <br />Derek Dieter, Karen White, Fred Ferlic, <br />Gavin Ferlic, Oliver Davis <br />Other's Present: Bob Allen, Kevin Allen, Kathy Cekanski - Farrand, Kyle Chamberlin, <br />Bryan Baker, Murray Miller, Dick Nussbaum <br />Agenda: Historical Perspective — Metronet Bryan Baker <br />Update City Website <br />Update City Phones <br />Dr. David Varner noting the IT committee was set to begin its hearing more than an hour <br />beyond the advertised time apologized to those intending to make a presentation on the <br />Metronet. He had intended to discuss the background and development of fiber optic <br />data transmission through Metronet. In addition the distinction between the for profit and <br />not for profit dimensions of Metronet were to be discussed as well as Metronet were to be <br />discussed as well as Metronet's role in wireless communication in the future. Dr. Varner <br />allowed Bryan Baker, President of Com- Control a voice and data management consulting <br />firm, to speak briefly. However without adequate time left to explore the issues, Dr. <br />Varner entered two items (attachment filed in the Office of the City Clerk) into the record <br />for review and promised to schedule another time for IT to address the concerns raised. <br />There being no further business to come before the committee at this time, Chairperson <br />Varner adjourned the meeting at 5:50 p.m. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />David Varner, Chairperson <br />Information and Technology Committee <br />
